After a sweet victory against Milford 70-26, Sophomore Mo Larkee grabbed the postgame headset to talk about the big win and what's next for the team!

I think my favorite thing about this Patriots team is how #MikeVrabel waits in the tunnel post game to give every one of the players a handshake/hug. It seems really genuine. #team

I get asked a lot by parents about AAU programs & what they should look for. I don’t have kids myself so this may seem too simplified, but hopefully it resonates a little: - Find a program where your kid will get good playing time! It’s hard not to drink the Kool-Aid when someone tells you your kid is awesome, but if that’s not backed by playing time then it’s useless. If she doesn’t get playing time, she risks losing confidence and not liking the sport. If she plays for a lower tier team and plays a lot, she’ll flourish on & off the court. And she’ll stay with it! - Really look at how practices are run. Is it all about plays/sets or is there a good balance of skills & playing? This is huge! Also try to stay away from clinic formats - the skills taught should be personalized to the age & level. Just running drills doesn’t help - they should focus on specific skill work. - If your kid isn’t in high school yet, they should mainly be playing local tourneys - You know your kids and what approach they respond to. Don’t go with the hard-nosed yelling coach if you know her confidence will be negatively impacted. It’s not the kid’s fault if they need to “get tougher”. Just means they have the wrong coach for them. - If (objectively) your kid is really good, definitely look for the most competitive program. This is when it may be good for your kid to pull apart from a team who might be less competitive or skilled, even if it means leaving their friends. It all depends how serious they are about hoops and how much they love it. - Fun is always the name of the game!
