"[Science communication] is not just a matter of translating jargon into plain language ... the key is getting the public to realize that science is a work in progress, an honorably self-correcting endeavor carried out in good faith." fcld.ly/v9y219e #ScienceEditorial

If my A level grades had been awarded by algorithm this year I wouldn’t have got into @Cambridge_Uni Alumni please sign this open letter demanding offers are honoured for state school students - you interviewed them so know them better than the algorithm! docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…

@KCoatesSciComm @KEHplantsci I recently read To Be Taught, If Fortunate and the entire cast is people just doing the best science they can within the structures provided to them. It's basically a love letter to science if it hadn't been made competitive

I'm still working with my dataset, and I'd love to know if people have examples of fictional characters who show that science can be cool without breaking the rules? I'm a little tired of looking at all these morally ambiguous/ethically challenged scientist characters.

@KimChandler1407 @burgess4mation Hiro makes their suits at home, so there is less rules to break in that I reckon 🤔 they're otherwise all doing uni sanctioned research, so the non superhero applications must be ethically approved... I feel like I'm thinking too hard about this, haha 😅😂

@KimChandler1407 @burgess4mation Tadashi Hamada, he definitely fits!! 😊 The others of his lab don't appear to break rules with their science, I would say? Just how they use it? Comic book sciencey is always a little hand wavy...

@KCoatesSciComm @KEHplantsci I liked The Naturalists - a botanical novel by Diane Smith. And depending on what you mean by science and rules, Patricia C Wredes Frontier Magic was a YA series with very scientific behaviour in a fantasy setting...
