I just got the phone call you don't want to get from a dancer 4 days before a show: I broke my foot.

Backstage shenanigans.

The undoing of nonet has begun. Just had a dancer quit on me. That's a first.

Dance Observation #4: Great dancing is greatly appreciated.

Dance Observation #3: Unless it is absolutely critical to getting your point across, no more running in circles.

Dance Observation #2: Adults acting like children. Keep trying if you want, but I've never seen it work.

Dance Observation #1: We know when you are filling time, trying to get to the end of the music. Get back in the studio or get new music.

In the studio, I'm building my new dance forward, but in my creative thinking time, I'm working backwards.

Just finished watching all the video footage from today's rehearsal. Happy.

These dancers are so good, and they are making me work so fast. My brain can't keep up.

Problem solved: mannequin.

Just got word that one of my dancers is too sick to attend rehearsal. I have 30 minutes to figure out how to build a trio with 2 people.

I'm always nervous about working with new dancers, but Jessica and Janna blew me away during our first rehearsal weekend.

Making a new work fosters a combination of fear and excitement in me.

Our fall season commences tomorrow with a company meeting, contract signings and contact improv. Finally.

As to other recent events, my mantra is high road. Take the high road. Always. The high road.

I've spent hours, days, weeks on this final report for the city, and I just can't seem to get 'er done.
