I'm glad that an apron piledriver won a wrestling match, and I like the match being waved off on the outside because Will was fucked as a TV finish. Big win for Mark Davis. I do think AEW should be really cognizant about inadvertently burying Doc Sampson. The more Will wrestles on TV with commentary saying he's "cleared" while he spends the whole match going "me fookin neck bruv" and getting carried off by Sampson, the more it makes their medical look incompetent, so they're gonna have to find a workaround to that, and not go to that exact same well every week while telling this story.

@sarahlicity The difference is one belt has a long lineage of top superstar champions. The other is a belt that exist solely for television purposes. In some points in time the person holding the I.C belt was better than the world champion. Do better.

@KDL07866015 @BackupHangman Not talking about the likes of Anna Jay. Athena, Starkz, Sakazaki, Red Velvet, basically a good chunk of that female talent in ROH Limbo that you could knock off a men's match per Dynamite/Collision and get them on more consistently.

Whether the Lio Rush Blackheart gimmick is or isn't for you, booking him on Dynamite was the right thing to do. You have to reward the boys when they go out and try different things and generate interest for themselves. That's how you encourage more underneath talent to work out, buy new gear, and come up with new stuff instead of getting complacent and waiting around in catering for a shot that'll never come.

@KenMck789 @BackupHangman To play devil's advocate, Lio developed the blackheart gimmick on the indies and was eventually given a chance to showcase it on AEW. What is talent like Anna Jay for example doing to garner a similar opportunity?

@BackupHangman My problem with it is the women do not get anywhere near these opportunities to experiment or time to tweak a gimmick to work. Unless you're Toni Storm, you're yanked off after a week of something not working out well.

AEW’s storytelling rewards paying attention. If you've been paying attention, then you would've noticed that Darby Allin has been set up to beat MJF for a while now. - Darby beat Mox, then ran through the Death Riders - He’s been undefeated in singles action in 2026. - March 11: Kyle Fletcher grows suspicious that Don Callis and MJF are working together on something. - March 18: Darby beats Gabe Kidd in a Coffin Match and cuts a promo after, saying, “Maxwell Jacob Friedman, I’m coming.” - March 18: While MJF is set to face Kenny Omega, his bigger concern is Darby. He pays the Don Callis Family to handle the Darby problem. He’s already looking ahead, confident he can beat Kenny. - March 25: The Don Callis Family take out Darby for Max, because that's the guy Max fears the most. - April 1: Darby cuts another promo, calling out MJF and telling him he’s scared. - April 8: The clearest sign that Darby was the one. He cuts a promo laying out exactly why he wants to win the AEW Championship. - April 12: He challenges MJF after beating Andrade at Dynasty. - April 15: The entire episode is built around telling you that Darby is the guy...and he wins the AEW Championship. None of this was surprising, if you were watching.

@TDriver98 @AIRGold_ In storyline, darby challenged mjf as soon as possible because he's always ready to wrestle, whereas Max isn't, and in Darby's own words "if I'm not ready now i never will be" Mjf lost in minutes because he got cocky and wasn't prepared. It makes perfect sense

This was a perfect one episode story which was based on their history in AEW and a contrast between them. Darby is always ready to go, he doesn't care that he went through a battle against Andrade on Dynasty, doesn't care that he's beat up, doesn't even care if his World Title match is gonna main event the show. Meanwhile MJF is at his best when he's in perfect health, when he has a lot of time to come up with a plan for the match. That's when he feels comfortable. Darby knew it and this is why he challenged him immediately on Dynamite after PPV. And in desperate attempt to cheat and survive, MJF gave up his biggest weapon - Dynamite Diamond Ring, the one thing that let him keep the belt. After that he was defenseless and Darby quickly beat him... With Headlock Takeover of course. Brilliant. Just brilliant.
