We all come from somewhere.
No one chooses where they start in life, but determination, resilience and hard work can change the direction of a person’s story.
The story of Mercy Maasai is a reminder that every great journey begins with humble steps. From struggling and hustling through different jobs just to survive, to becoming a voice many people now believe in, her journey speaks to thousands of young people and women who are fighting every day to uplift themselves and their communities.
Many people only celebrate success when it becomes visible. Few understand the sacrifices, the sleepless nights, the criticism, the rejection and the courage it takes to keep going when nobody believes in you. But one thing life teaches us is this: never look down on anyone’s beginning because nobody knows tomorrow’s destiny.
I may have never met Mercy personally, but I will always clap for anyone who is genuinely working hard to change their life and uplift others. In a world where many pull others down, we should learn to celebrate progress, encourage dreams and support those who rise through determination.
Her story is not just about politics. It is about hope. It is about every young girl in Kajiado who thinks her background limits her future. It is about every hustler trying to survive honestly. It is about believing that one day, through persistence and faith, things can change.
Let us give Mercy Maasai a chance to serve as the Woman Representative for Kajiado County. Sometimes the best leaders are not those who were born into comfort, but those who have walked with the people, felt their pain and understand their daily struggles.
To everyone out there still struggling, keep pushing. Your current situation is not your final destination. Keep working. Keep believing. Keep showing up. One day your story will inspire others too.
Let us normalize supporting people who are trying to rise.
Let us clap for progress.
Let us uplift dreamers.
Because every successful person once had a beginning nobody believed in.
