Back officially from maternity leave today. The best job in the world is being a mom and I’m grateful to @ABC for the time I was able to spend at home with family these past four months ❤️ My last day at work was the day Nicolás Maduro was captured and what’s true about this industry is the news never stops. I have the most incredible colleagues, many of whom found themselves in a scary and fluid situation this past weekend and reported so gracefully under pressure. This job is not easy, to say the least. I’m lucky to work with them — now let’s break some news!

I was in the middle of taping on my iPhone for a social video from the White House North Lawn when we heard the shots. It sounded like dozens of gunshots. We were told to sprint to the press briefing room where we are holding now.

US Magistrate Judge Reinhart, who authorized the search of Mar-a-Lago, recuses himself from the case of the prosecutor charged with sending herself a copy of Volume II of the Jack Smith report — detailing how Trump absconded with highly classified national defense secrets there. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…

Strange answers here from Trump re: IRS/weaponization deal. Trump: "I wasn't involved in the settlement. I could have been involved but I didn't choose to be. So, they made a settlement." Who the heck is is "they?" politico.com/news/2026/05/1…
CSPAN@cspan

Q: "Do you have a response to people that are critical of your settlement over your IRS case…now that you can't be prosecuted for tax—" President Trump: "They showed I pay a lot of money, but they're not supposed to do that…I wasn't involved in the settlement."

Scoop: Lawyers at the IRS prepared a 25-page memo recommending that DOJ move to dismiss Trump's lawsuit against the agency. DOJ instead settled the case by creating the $1.776 billion "anti-weaponization" fund.

Amici (including ex-Judge Gleeson & ex-SG Don Verrilli) have told the judge in IRS v Trump of 3 “substantial defenses” in Trump’s tax case, including (1) sovereign immunity, being argued *now* by DOJ in other cases involving tax leaks by the *same* govt contractor ... 1/3

This plan is just root and branch unconstitutional: Trump & @DAGToddBlanche colluding to steal $1.7B from taxpayers to mete out to Trump's friends & thugs in Trump's sole discretion. abcnews.com/US/trump-admin…

MORE - I’m told the potential commission tasked with approving payouts to Trump allies will likely be called, ‘The President Donald J. Trump Truth and Justice Commission,’ and the total amount available in the fund will be… $1.776 billion.

The proposed creation of the compensation fund has led some administration officials to raise ethical concerns about the arrangement -- stemming not only from Trump suing his own government but also having control of an entity that can freely hand out $1.7 billion to his allies.
