@JohnMorton215 Did those mounds survive the Clifford Roberts changes shown here and then get recreated???

How did St. Andrews inspire Augusta National? Look no further than the 8th hole and the mounds/rolling slopes found in the fairway and around the green. These were Alister Mackenzie and Bobby Jones’ attempt to bring the style of the Old Course to America… ANGC didn’t have the natural land formations that Mackenzie and Jones fell in love with in Scotland, so they had to recreate them… Which is where those rolling mounds came from!

It’s not everyday you run into a Rules Official Legend. This evening I met Mark Wilson How might you know Mr. Wilson? Mr Wilson was the Rules Official who had to notify Dustin Johnson that he had illegally grounded his club in a bunker on the 72nd hole of the 2010 PGA Championship at Whistling Straights costing Dustin a chance in the playoff. This was a period where Dustin missed out of the chance to win the 2010 PGA Championship with a penalty, lost a three stroke lead in the 2010 US Open by starting par, triple, double at Pebble Beach and then in 2011 and hit a tee shot OB while making a run at the Open. Mark is a great guy, but gave me a two stroke penalty for grounding my spoon in the soup bowl. @PGAChampionship @PGA @PGATOUR

@KFry1010 @fried_egg_golf @mattrouches Not to get too technical, but I the region that would be considered is the Loess Hills. I think it is an incredible course and one of only two that attempts to capture the beauty and style of the loess hills.

In a region where cattle greatly outnumber humans, you’ll find some of the most raw and spectacular golf courses in the United States. Whether you’ve scored a tee time at the elusive Sand Hills Golf Club, need a break from cross-country roadtripping on I-80, or just want to visit some honor-box nine-hole courses, the Nebraska Sandhills has it all.

Extrememly detartched from the realities of everyday golf in America. Course in the U.S. would fold without the revenue carts bring in. It's that simple.

How the golf cart destroyed American golf culture: Disclaimer: I play in carts sometimes. This isn’t “You suck if you play in a golf cart”. Public golf culture in the USA has a lot of problems. And imo the golf cart was what changed the game. In the UK and Australia, golf is seen as a healthy social hobby. It’s a nature walk while hitting a golf ball and then a beer with friends afterwards. In America, it’s mocked. A lazy man’s game. Driving around getting smashed. It’s slow and often tense. It’s like sitting in traffic. How did the golf cart hurt the game? Takes away the health benefits Horrible for the turf Makes expensive and ugly cart paths mandatory Allows for more drinking, most don’t want to get drunk while walking Takes away the natural high Allows for bad golf course design Almost all of the great private golf clubs in the USA are walking only or highly encourage walking. This isn’t a coincidence. Golf is simply a walking game. It’s better for all involved. (With exemption for the handicapped.) As American golf evolves, thankfully we are seeing a move back to walking courses. The Park in Florida mandates walking in the mornings. Bandon Dunes and Sand Valley are walking only. And golfers are buying in! I learned playing cart golf as an adult. Walking 18 holes seemed like a chore. But once you start walking, you get it. And it becomes easier and easier and then becomes what you crave. The walk. Yes in Texas or Florida summers, carts will be used. Yes at mountain and some desert courses they are needed. But for a normal parkland course, we need to eschew the cart. It’s better for the game and for everyone who plays it. For all the cart golfers, give it a try if your course is walkable. It’s better in all ways.

@Top100Rick @Clam_Fan Argue the prep. Argue the strategy. Argue the importance. Without the PGAOA who propped this event up for 50 years losing money every event, it wouldn’t be here. Money grab? Look at the President’s Cup.

The unsung MVP of the Europe Ryder Cup team: Edoardo Molinari. Listen to this. It is worth your minute. And it’s VERY embarrassing for the USA team. Contrast this to what Scottie said: That he and Henley decided to change their playing order based on their first round. It wasn’t pre determined by data. When I say that Keegan and the PGA failed, this is such an easy example. We simply do not set up our players with any advantage. Whereas Europe is finding every single tiny edge they can get. And Dodo uses the same analytics to determine course setup. You can bet Adare Manor in 2027 will be setup to make us look as bad as possible. Do you think he would send out Morikawa/English twice? 🙄 The Euro team is starting each event with a 2 point lead thanks to this man.

@golfweek Easy to debunk this report. South Bend population = 103,000. The city owns three courses. Another 5 nearby. Two private clubs in South Bend alone, plus 3 more well inside the 20 miles. Must be checking hotel rates during Notre Dame game weekends!
