Afghanistan’s women’s rights activists are demanding global recognition of gender apartheid. Stripped of basic rights under the Taliban, Afghan women are leading the fight against Taliban’s oppressive regime.

The Taliban has banned women from speaking to one another. Khalid Hanafi, Taliban’s minister for virtue and vice, declared it forbidden for adult women to let their voices be heard by other women, further restricting existing bans on speaking and showing their faces in public.

It would be a real shame if this tweet by Elon Musk (in 2022) saying that Trump is too old to be president went viral. You know what to do.

Private Eye: putting things in perspective

1112 days since the Taliban banned girls from school. Millions of girls are out of classrooms, in the ONLY country in the world that bans female education. Why are we not outraged? How have we allowed this to happen in 21st century? How can we let the Taliban get away with this?

The Taliban are now overturning divorce rulings pre-2021, forcing thousands back into abusive marriages. Women are silenced, stripped of any autonomy, and left in grave danger with no legal recourse. Gender apartheid is accelerating in Afghanistan.

Forcing girls—especially minors—into marriage is crime! Yet in some countries, such atrocities occur daily, where girls are subjected to physical & mental torture by families & coerced into marriages against their will. We need to stand for freedom of women.

This man raped a woman but was referred to as ‘she’ in court because he’s decided to identify as a woman. Why do the authorities play along with this insulting nonsense? There is no ambiguity at all. It’s an obvious farce. So why do they do it?

Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, and Australia have announced plans to sue the Taliban and bring them before the International Court of Justice for gender discrimination and violations of women's and girls' rights.

Surreal, that on the day the first female Chancellor is about to deliver a speech, the entire focus was on gifts and donations which are within the rules I don't remember our media doing the same when the Conservatives were accepting gifts and donations, not at this scale Yes, it was a car crash interview trying to justify the gifts and donations But the double standards from our media in not doing the same to Conservatives MPs and Prime Ministers is a tragedy for our democracy Do we expect better standards from Labour? Yes. But a reminder that all of the gifts and donations are actually within the rules - should the rules change? Yes. But they're still within the rules

From Paris to Kabul, women sing in solidarity with the women of Afghanistan, standing against the Taliban's oppressive regime. Men and women from around the world need to join the Afghan women’s call for freedom.

It takes something more than courage to go out on the streets of Kabul when your face and voices are banned and chant against your oppressor. The women of Afghanistan will not submit to darkness and will fight for light. More power to them.

Why do Afghan men not rise up for their sisters? Their mothers? Their daughters, aunts, neighbours, friends? Is the whole male population enjoying this misogynist power trip? Where are their videos? Their songs? Their resistance? Where are they?

Today, on the Global Day of Literacy, it has been 1,088 days since the Taliban criminally deprived millions of Afghan girls of their education. For over a thousand days, girls have been barred from schools, while the world stands by, busy normalizing this oppressive regime.
