Donald Trump is promising to crack down on anyone who criticizes or opposes him if elected. He also promises to vastly expand the use of the death penalty. Sadly. This has happened before. In 1942 Hitler raged across Europe and turned the Gestapo loose on his own citizens in an attempt to control the German people. In response. Students at the University of Munich founded the ‘White Rose‘. White Rose was dedicated to opposing Nazi policies such as genocide and the extreme injustice that was being used against innocent Germans. The White Rose began writing and distributing leaflets exposing the atrocities of the Nazi’s. Two of the leaders of White Rose were brother and sister Hans and Sophie Scholl. In 1943 the Scholl’s and another student member of the White Rose Christopher Probst were arrested by the Gestapo for the crimes of High Treason against the state. Even though all they did was write and distribute leaflets in opposition to the Nazi‘s , they were tried and convicted on Feb. 22 1943 in Nazi Judge Freisler‘s court and sentenced to death by Guillotine. That afternoon all three were executed. I know many will say “that can never happen here” but is that actually the case? Over the last month the rhetoric and promises of retribution and revenge have grown darker and darker from Donald Trump. He has promised to shut down CBS for allowing Kamala Harris to appear on 60 Minutes when he was too afraid to appear. He has called for the execution Gen. Mark Milley for daring to criticize him. And those are only a couple of examples where Donald Trump has promised violent revenge against his enemies. And now that the Supreme Court has granted Donald Trump absolute immunity for official acts he will not be restrained by laws or morality. Just like Hitler and the Nazi Party in Germany, Donald Trump has promised to use the power of the federal government to exact his revenge against his perceived enemies. Will that include imprisoning and possibly executing his enemies? I really hope not but we have to appreciate the fact that Donald Trump has followed the rise of Hitler almost to a tee. From his words about “poisoning the blood” to declaring that people have “bad genes”. These are the words that Hitler used against his enemies. Will Donald Trump follow his admiration of Adolph Hitler to its logical conclusion? That is a chance we cannot take. We must defeat Donald Trump on Nov 5 and send his dictatorial fascist leanings to the dustbin of history.
