@KJScouting Great stuff but how in the world did he should 9% on 10 attempts?

While Boozer isn’t going to have high usage post up looks in the league where he’s overly dribbling, he’s extremely good at creating space for himself in the post without the ball and finishing without ever dribbling. These kinds of sets are what Boozer excels at and in the league he’ll have the opportunity to take full advantage of that. Boozer has great touch around the rim and uses his strength and instincts to effectively create space for himself as a post player without needing the ball or hurting the flow of the offense to finish at the rim.

Overall while Boozer is a pretty unique prospect due to him not being flashy I think he’s got all of the tools to be a star player in the league and a guy who can impact winning at an elite level. His mix of off ball instincts, feel, playmaking, rebounding, motor, shooting, finishing, and defensive instincts at 6’9 makes him not only one of the best all around players in the class but potentially one of the best all around players in the NBA. I think he’s a guy that can be a top 50 player in the NBA day one and while a lot of people don’t think his game can translate I think he’s a guy that can be used in any system with his smart and skilled he is. He’s also a guy who can change his game to fit what his team needs from him.

While Boozer is extremely polished he still has some stuff that isn’t fully there in his game. He’s a terrible mid range scorer who has no gravity in the mid range, and while it’s not a shot he necessarily needs in the league it’s something that would be good for him to add to make him a more complete scorer. He shot 9% from the mid range this season on only 10 attempts. Boozer also does have limitations athletically which really shows up on the defensive end. While I think Boozer is a good off ball defender he’s a poor on ball defender who’s not great at defending in one on one situations in either the post or in the perimeter. Players shot 57% against him in the post on 48 attempts and Boozer isn’t great at absorbing contact as a post defender and gets caught off guard by post moves a lot. He’s also gets beat off the dribble a lot due to his limited foot speed.

Boozer is extremely unique in the fact that you don’t see a lot of 6’9 250 guys who have the ability to drive to the rim and create as well as Boozer. Boozer is an extremely versatile driver and creator who can get to the rim in a lot of unique ways. Boozer has the ability to get to the rim in isolation, as a PNR scorer, and has the ability to drive after a spot up look. He’s a strong driver who uses his strength to his advantage, and he’s also a smart driver who doesn’t turn the ball over and has the ability to draw fouls at an elite level. While Boozer isn’t overly flashy he has a practical handle and is great at getting to his spots efficiently, and his at the rim craft was a major reason why he finished in the 77th percentile as a PNR Ball Handler and 81st percentile as an Iso scorer.

Overall in my personal opinion AJ is the best star bet in this year’s class while also having an extremely high floor and is a guy who can be a top 50 player in the NBA day one. AJ’s mix of 3 level scoring upside, pace, passing, athleticism, craft, and fluidity, and ability to draw fouls, is something you rarely see from a 6’9 18 year old and he has the potential to be one of the most complete stars in the NBA. AJ has all of the tools and traits to be a superstar in the league and he’s extremely polished already for his age, while he’s not a perfect player who needs to brush up his game and bit in my opinion all of his flaws are fixable and when comparing him to other players in the class he stands out.

While AJ is a mostly polished player and doesn’t have a lot of flaws he still has some areas in his game where he’s not great at. He doesn’t provide a lot as an off ball player in the HC and most of the time when he doesn’t have the ball he just stands around doing nothing. He’s also a very poor catch and shoot shooter who shot 26% off the catch from deep. He lacks the same confidence he does off the dribble and tends to overthink a bit more as he does his best work as a creator. AJ’s handle while good isn’t the greatest against double teams. His handle can be a bit loose at times and he’s not the greatest against double teams and most of his turnovers came because of double teams. AJ also has laspes on the defensive end. While I don’t think he’s a bad defender, he’s still not a good one and one of the biggest reasons is whenever he made a mistake on the defensive end instead of rushing to fix his mistake he just stood around. However all of these things are fixable and for a 18 year old he has room to improve all of these things.

UCLA’s Trent Perry has a chance to be one of the biggest breakout NBA Draft Prospects next season. The 6’4 Sophomore guard had a strong season for UCLA where he averaged 13/3/3 on 44/39/86 splits while also averaging 14/4/3 and shooting 42% from three in B10 play. Perry is set to be the starting PG for UCLA next season after playing as a combo guard where his mix of shooting, live dribbling passing, pace, touch, and mid range scoring can standout. Perry has a strong ability to score efficiently on and off the ball where he a standout PNR scorer shooting 46% in the PNR while also being one of the best spot up shooters in the B10 where he shot 40%. Perry is also a smart scorer who is elite at drawing fouls and has good touch around the rim. Perry is also a skilled passer who has the ability to find his teammates off the dribble.
