A great open-access resource!🌾🧬 R genes are valuable targets for crop improvement.📚 Our chapter, “Rapid cloning of disease resistance genes in wheat” reviews resources and methods used to identify and validate candidate genes. @FarisGenLab

I’ve developed KASP that are 99-100% accurate when predicting insensitivity to ToxA in durum and bread wheat. Please reach out if you want to use these markers to reduce tan spot, septoria blotch, and spot blotch susceptibility. @FarisGenLab

Great to share progress on this project. Glad to hear current research on Septoria nodorum blotch in wheat at the Foliar Disease Complexes of Cereals Symposium. #fdcc

@KLDRunning describing her work on cloning and identification of multiple SnTox5 sensitivity genes named Snn5 in durum wheat. Snn5-B2 more common in durum than Snn5-B1. #fdcc

@oneandJHONly Get two! Good name ideas. I had favorite scientists on my short list of potential names but my first cat looked like a Night Fury from How to Train Your Dragon. So, he is Fury.

I feel like I need a cat... and then I'm gonna name it Don (short for Deoxynivalenol) or Fuzzy (for Fusarium). 😼😸

Most plants contain resistance genes that recognize pathogens and protect plants from developing disease but ARS scientists discovered a new gene may hijack wheat's ability to fight disease. Read more in the first part of our “Fungus Series” loom.ly/ciBRY6s #DiscoverARS

@PukaBeals Looks like a foliar pathogen overwintered on your un-tilled grass. UMN Extension could probably ID if you send a sample to the Plant Disease Clinic.

Barley planted into grass mixtures is looking sick. Barley not planted into the grass mixture is looking fine. Was expecting spottier emergence of barley that was no-till drilled into the grass, but not expecting these leaf symptoms. What is happening?

My dad teaches a 2.5 hr capstone class over dinner time. Students were getting hangry and rushing through their work to go eat dinner. So, he is making the class dinner. This week was stew and 🥖. Everyone stayed the whole class. Proud of all he does to help his students succeed!

Happy #cdnagday2021! Thankful for the tractor ride alongs, morning chores, bottle babies, calving and harvest seasons my family shared with me. Decided to study nectrotrophic fungal pathogens in wheat while harvesting wheat with my uncle in Manitoba.
