@fasc1nate @MikeKenealy I seem to remember hearing that the cat was run over by a car as soon as it was released, but that may have been apocryphal.
English

This was a CIA project from the 1960s to spy on Russia. They chose a cat for the job, but they didn’t consider the fact that cats are tough to train.
The cat’s job was to eavesdrop on two men in a park outside the Soviet embassy in Washington, D.C. The cat was wired up by a veterinary surgeon who implanted a microphone into the ear canal, a small radio transmitter at the base of the skull, and a battery buried in the flesh.
The complex project took five years to complete and consumed a whopping $20 million. The project was closed in 1967 because the cat wouldn't obey.

Now at Burton-on-Trent. Looks like a mere three people will be left on the platform.Smell of vomit has eased but not the overcrowding. #journeyfromhell @CrossCountryUK

Now at Chesterfield and the overcrowding has not eased. People still unable to get on the train and left at platform. The smell of vomit is making me tempted to join them. #trainfromhell @CrossCountryUK

A woman couldn't get to the toilet in time because of overcrowding and has just vomited on the floor of the carriage. #trainfromhell @CrossCountryUK

I won't ever be travelling with @CrossCountryUK again after this. People left standing at every station as there isn't sufficient room on the train.

@KMacnish Kevin hosts the Getting Technology Right podcast (…tting-technology-right.simplecast.com) and, like me, works as an ethics consultant. So, rather than the usual interview, this is a two-way conversation about both of those things: podcast-hosting and ethics consultancy.

This means that it'll be hard to address training data sets. It was already messy w/the status of metadata ownership (See @gauttiersteph and @KMacnish paper: t.ly/2DcHf) With generative AI the issue becomes even more complex, it's matrix completion w/ synthetic data.
