Yesterday , delegates undertook an excursion to Kabalega Industrial Park (KIP) in Hoima. The visit was led by representatives from the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), who provided an overview of Uganda’s journey toward becoming an oil-producing country.
This journey began in earnest in December 2006 with the first commercial oil discovery, followed by phases of appraisal and negotiation that culminated in the Final Investment Decision (FID) in 2022.
Uganda is in its Construction Development Phase, with about USD 12 billion invested, over 1,200 companies involved, and 20,000+ jobs created as of March 2026. The Kabalega Industrial Park (KIP), led by UNOC, is a key hub for the oil and gas sector, featuring major infrastructure and attracting industrial investment—signaling growing demand for technical skills across the region.
The delegates also undertook a comprehensive tour of Kabalega International Airport, which is expected to serve as a major logistics hub once commissioned.
Eng. George Ajowi received a trophy on behalf of Kenya Pipeline Company PLC Management, in appreciation of the sponsor, during the award ceremony.
