🚨 Illegal Arms Seizure by STF, Kolkata Police 🚨 On the afternoon of 27.04.2026, acting on specific intelligence, a team of STF, Kolkata Police detained Shamim Alam (40) in the Chitpur PS area (in front of 26/1, B.T. Road). During the search, the following items were recovered from his possession: 🔹 03 single-shot firearms 🔹 01 pistol (7 mm) 🔹 04 empty magazines 🔹 14 rounds of 8 mm cartridges 🔹 100 rounds of 7 mm cartridges The accused failed to provide any satisfactory explanation regarding the possession of these arms and ammunition. 🔍 Seizure process is underway. 📄 A specific case is being initiated at STF Police Station. ⚖️ The accused will be produced before the court tomorrow. 🚨 Major Explosive Cache Recovered in Swift Police Action 🚨 Acting on credible source information, a watch was maintained at Majherhat (Poilepara) under Uttar Kashipur PS. During the operation, a significant cache of suspected explosive materials was recovered from an abandoned house near a burial ground. The seizure includes 79 crude bomb-like objects, approximately 3.37 kg of gun powder, 1.61 kg of sulphur, jute ropes, and 10 packets of roll caps, with the assistance of the Bomb Disposal Squad. A tragic case from Manicktala that turned into a story of justice delivered. On 03.02.2019, a case was registered at Manicktala Police Station following a complaint by Gautam Pramanick regarding the unnatural death of his 23-year-old daughter, Ashima Roy, at her matrimonial home in Murari Pukur Road. What initially seemed like a domestic tragedy gradually revealed a disturbing pattern of sustained physical and mental cruelty. The investigation, led with diligence and sensitivity by Inspector Ashis Basu, uncovered the harsh reality hidden behind closed doors. After a thorough trial, the Hon’ble Court found the husband, Biswajit Roy, and mother-in-law, Shyamali Roy, guilty under Sections 304B/498A/34 IPC. Both have been sentenced to: • 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment under Section 304B IPC • 2 years’ simple imprisonment along with a fine of ₹10,000 each under Section 498A IPC Kolkata Police remains committed to standing against crimes within homes and ensuring justice for victims.

This morning, acting on specific and credible source information, a team of Madhabpur PS conducted a targeted interception at No.3 Govt. Kulti Colony near SS Cable, Bairampur, and apprehended one accused namely Asadul Gayen, S/o Yousuf Ali Gayen of Vill–Kharamba, PO–Bhojherhat, PS–Madhabpur, Dist–24 Pgs (S). During a thorough search, one illegal firearm along with one live cartridge was recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested after observing all due legal formalities. An 83-year-old resident of Baghbazar was duped by an unknown fraudster impersonating a CBI officer, who falsely threatened him with arrest in a fabricated money laundering case. Under intimidation, the victim transferred ₹39 lakh via RTGS to a fraudulent account.
