Devastating news in Hockeyland. King Philip girls head coach Ken Assad unexpectedly passed today. He was in his 7th year coaching the program after serving as assistant for the Franklin boys within a long coaching career. Statement from the school district:

Saddened to hear of the news that King Philip girls hockey coach Ken Assad passed away suddenly today. He worked hard to build the King Philip program into one of the more solid programs in the state. Our condolences to Ken's family, friends, his players and the King Philip community.

We are heartbroken to hear of Kenny’s passing. Sending love to his family, the KP girls hockey team, and coaches. Kenny was always the biggest supporter of our program and so proud to hear of all his players success. KP lost a great one, he will be forever missed ❤️
