@EPRA_KE We urge all relevant stakeholders including government agencies, industry regulators, and sector representatives to prioritize structured negotiations and transparent communication in order to restore stability and public confidence.

We have recalculated the maximum petroleum prices to be in force from 19th May 2026 to 14th June 2026 following a petition by public transport sector operators on the need to minimize the risk of motor fuel adulteration that may arise due to Diesel & Kerosene price difference.

The ongoing matatu strike that has paralysed public transport and disrupted multiple sectors highlights how sensitive the economy is to fuel dynamics.

KPOWU urges relevant authorities to ensure greater transparency in fuel pricing structures and to consider the cumulative burden placed on workers and consumers. Economic stability must be measured by its impact on households, not only macroeconomic indicators.

As a union, KPOWU is concerned about the widening gap between income levels and the cost of living, and calls for policy measures that protect working families from sustained economic pressure.
