মাত্র ছয় ঘন্টায় গ্রেফতার ছিনতাইবাজ ঘটনা দিন তিনেক আগের। ঘড়ির কাঁটায় রাত তখন প্রায় দশটা। শোভাবাজার ক্রসিংয়ের কাছে এসে রামজি তেওয়ারি নামে জনৈক সহনাগরিক একটি চারচাকা গাড়িতে উঠে বসেন বাড়ি ফেরার উদ্দেশ্যে। গাড়ি কিছুটা এগোতেই বিপত্তি। চালক রাস্তা বদলে ঢুকে পড়েছে একটি নির্জন লেনে। এবং ব্রেক কষেছে হঠাৎ। তারপর চকিতে নেমে এসেছে গাড়ি থেকে। এবং এক ঝটকায় রামজির গলার সোনার চেন ছিনিয়ে নিয়ে গাড়িসহ অদৃশ্য হয়ে গেছে। অভিযোগ দায়ের হয় উল্টোডাঙ্গা থানায়। ঘটনার তদন্তভার গ্রহণ করে আমাদের অ্যান্টি-স্ন্যাচিং স্কোয়াড। আশেপাশের অঞ্চলের সিসিটিভি ফুটেজ খতিয়ে দেখে শনাক্ত করা হয় সন্দেহভাজন গাড়িটি। এরপর গাড়ির নম্বর ধরে ডাটাবেস যাচাই করা এবং আবিষ্কার করা যে, গাড়িটি ইতিমধ্যেই চারবার মালিকানা বদলেছে। মালিকানার নথি যাচাই, ধারাবাহিক নজরদারি এবং তথ্য বিশ্লেষণের মাধ্যমে বর্তমান মালিককে চিহ্নিত করা হয়। সেই সূত্র ধরেই গ্রেফতার করা হয় গাড়ির চালককে। গুণধরের নাম রাজা শর্মা, বাড়ি মানিকতলা এলাকায়। অতঃপর জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ, স্বীকারোক্তি এবং ছিনতাই হওয়া সোনার চেন উদ্ধার। গাড়ি শনাক্তকরণ থেকে শুরু করে অভিযুক্ত গ্রেফতার এবং চুরি যাওয়া সম্পত্তি উদ্ধার—সমস্ত প্রক্রিয়া সম্পন্ন হয় মাত্র ছয় ঘন্টায়।

Cyber Police Station, Kolkata has successfully busted a gang involved in cheating innocent people by falsely promising loans under the PM Mudra Yojana. In connection with Cyber PS Case No. 02 dated 07.01.2026, a follow-up raid was conducted on 09.01.2026 under the jurisdiction of Purba Jadavpur Police Station, Kolkata, which led to the arrest of five active members of the gang. During the operation, 8 Android mobile phones and 6 keypad mobile phones were seized. The accused were operating in an organized manner and were targeting the public through fraudulent calls and messages, collecting money on false pretenses in the name of government loan schemes. Acting on credible intelligence, Cyber Crime Branch of Detective Department successfully conducted a raid this evening and busted a fraudulent call centre operating out of a residential flat in Bikramgarh, under Golf Green PS. 04 cybercriminals hailing from Jharkhand were arrested. The gang specialised in impersonating representatives of reputed hospitals and the Transport Department to deceive citizens across the country with false promises of booking assistance and traffic challan resolutions. A thorough search at the spot led to the seizure of a MacBook, a router, 24 mobile phones, and a list of 250 mule PAN card details used for their illegal operations. Judge, Bench–I, Calcutta, Bichar Bhawan. Following a swift investigation, the accused was arrested and the murder weapon was seized. A chargesheet was subsequently filed. The accused, Rameswar Sahani @ Pilot, has been convicted by the Ld Judge, Bench I, Calcutta, Bichar Bhawan and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life, with a fine of ₹10,000 U/S 302 IPC. The IO of the case was SI Amit Kumar Thakur (now Inspector of Police).
