@GregDav17852765@shea_jordan You hit the nail on the head. Fort Lauderdale chased away spring break crowds for those who would spend a lot more in their city. It worked.
@shea_jordan Regardless of race, no large city, on small fringe cities benefit from a “spring break” based tourism economy. Students don’t have a lot of money and are there to party at generally the lowest cost and the wildest fun.
The City of Houston should really be leaning into this moment.
There’s a clear, growing interest in Houston as a spring break destination—especially for Black young people—and more broadly as a place people actually want to visit.
That’s an opportunity.
@DougPlagens@FlaPanthers@JamesonCoop@RogersPicks Listening to you on the nhl app in Houston. Will be spending spring break in south Florida and will be at the game on Tuesday night against Detroit.
Texas is about to overtake California in battery storage capacity.
With our capabilities, Texas will continue to power the nation.

@DougPlagens@LindsayBHockey@JamesonCoop Listening to y’all on SiriusXM channel 219. Will be making the trek from Houston to South Florida in a couple weeks for games against Detroit and Columbus.
@PCreighton1 love that you guys brought up bringing hockey to Houston. I think it would be perfect to have a hockey arena right next to the football stadium. Much like they have in South Philly.
@dannataingenua@mikemcintyrewpg Have to have one or two national anthems, depending on the teams playing. Have to have a ceremonial puck drop. And any other pregame activity.
Hockey-related things I wish I could bring back home with me from #MilanoCortinaOlympics2026 to be implemented in the NHL.
