🚨 Swift Action by Kolkata Police In connection with Shyampukur PS Case No. 43 dated 07.04.2026, a serious cyber fraud targeting a senior citizen has been effectively pursued. An 83-year-old resident of Baghbazar was duped by an unknown fraudster impersonating a CBI officer, who falsely threatened him with arrest in a fabricated money laundering case. Under intimidation, the victim transferred ₹39 lakh via RTGS to a fraudulent account. Acting promptly, Cyber Crime Branch DD and North Division initiated swift financial tracking and coordination, leading to the successful restoration of ₹30.5 lakh to the victim. 🔹 Modus Operandi: Impersonation of law enforcement to induce fear 🔹 Medium: Phone call (fake identity displayed as “Navi Kumar”) 🔹 Target: Senior citizen Kolkata Police urges citizens to stay alert: ✔️ No law enforcement agency demands money ✔️ Verify before transferring funds ✔️ Report suspicious calls immediately Committed to protecting citizens from cyber crime.

Acting on a complaint from the Excise Directorate, the accused Debarchan Basu was apprehended from his residence under Kasba PS area, last night. Investigation is underway.

Swift Action by Kolkata Police: Robbery Case Cracked Within Hours Last night, a robbery was reported at Shakespeare Sarani Police Station by a lady who was targeted while returning home after a night out. She alleged that the taxi driver, along with accomplices, robbed her during the journey. An FIR was promptly registered. Taking the matter with utmost seriousness, the Anti-Dacoity & Robbery Squad of Detective Department was immediately assigned to investigate. In a swift and decisive operation, the DD team cracked the case within the same night—arresting the accused persons (the taxi driver and his associate) and recovering all the stolen belongings along with the vehicle used in the crime. The accused, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to the concerned Police Station for further legal action. Kolkata Police remains committed to ensuring safety and delivering justice with speed and precision.
