Acting on a complaint from the Excise Directorate, the accused Debarchan Basu was apprehended from his residence under Kasba PS area, last night. Investigation is underway.

Swift Action by Kolkata Police: Robbery Case Cracked Within Hours Last night, a robbery was reported at Shakespeare Sarani Police Station by a lady who was targeted while returning home after a night out. She alleged that the taxi driver, along with accomplices, robbed her during the journey. An FIR was promptly registered. Taking the matter with utmost seriousness, the Anti-Dacoity & Robbery Squad of Detective Department was immediately assigned to investigate. In a swift and decisive operation, the DD team cracked the case within the same night—arresting the accused persons (the taxi driver and his associate) and recovering all the stolen belongings along with the vehicle used in the crime. The accused, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to the concerned Police Station for further legal action.
