On 24 March 2026, the Victims Support Section (VSS) of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), in collaboration with the Victims/Survivors Initiatives During Residual Phase of the ECCC (VSR) and GIZ-CPS, organized a Consultative Workshop on Khmer Rouge Victims & Survivors’ Association/Foundation at the ECCC Resource Centre. The workshop brought together victims and Civil Parties who had testified before the ECCC, civil society organizations, and development partners to engage in discussions on strengthening support systems for victims. 💬 Key topics included: • The needs and requests of Civil Parties • Exploring appropriate structures for a victim association or foundation • Key issues such as governance, representation, and decision-making • The roles of stakeholders, including VSS, civil society organizations, and survivors • Ensuring the long-term sustainability of support mechanisms 🤝 Participants also shared experiences, international perspectives, and practical ideas, contributing to the development of a stronger and more inclusive support framework for victims. ✨ This workshop represents another important step in promoting healing, recognition, and sustainable support for victims of the Khmer Rouge regime. During its residual phase since 2023, the ECCC has carried out numerous activities with victims, including: notifying them of court decisions; producing summary booklets of judgments and appeal decisions; organizing intergenerational dialogues both on-site and through ECCC mobile outreach; raising public awareness about Civil Party participation; facilitating visits of Civil Parties to the Resource Centre; disseminating trial outcomes; and organizing exhibitions on forced marriage and sexual violence within marriage, among others. 📌 Looking ahead, the ECCC will organize an exhibition on the participation of victims before the Khmer Rouge Tribunal, which is scheduled to open at the end of 2026. #ECCC #TransitionalJustice #KhmerRouge #Survivors #VictimSupport #CivilParties #Cambodia #Justice #GIZ #HumanRights

📚 Community Library Launched at the ECCC Resource Centre Dear Members of the ECCC Resource Centre Library, We are pleased to inform you that today we have launched a Community Library at the ECCC. You may have noticed the bookshelf of the Community Library located at the entrance of the Resource Centre library area, with the message: “Together, We Share Books. Together, We Share Knowledge.” The idea behind this Community Library is simple: it is a place where we can share books with one another. Anyone can bring a book to leave for others to read, and anyone can also take a book they are interested in reading from the shelf. The goal is to strengthen the sense of community around our library while encouraging a love for reading and learning. By sharing books, we help stories, ideas, and knowledge circulate within our Resource Centre. We warmly invite all members to participate. If you have books at home that you would like others to enjoy—such as novels, children’s books, history books, learning materials, or books in any language—please feel free to bring them and place them on the Community Library shelf at the location shown in the attached image. The Community Library is open to everyone. Thank you for your participation in helping create a shared space for reading and discovery. #ECCC #CommunityLibrary #ShareBooks #KnowledgeSharing #LearningTogether
