We have tried multiple times with our social worker Dawn. They refuse to do any type of mediation or conversation regarding the decision to cut us off (which is their right to do so of course). I applaud you for your willingness to honor your child’s bio parents & whatever agreement you all have made together. Please continue to be a good representation of what an open adoption could/should be like. We need more of that!

@TylerBaltierra isn’t there a way to mediate this privately via your social worker?! Speaking as an adoptive mom, I would always want to honor our child’s birth parents and the agreement we made with them for the next 18 years. Communication is key

@TylerBaltierra As a adoptee, I only wish my parents faught as hard as you guys do to request visits. Its not like you guys lost her or were on drugs, you were kids having a kid, they took advantage of that as adults & knew damn well what those papers said & they know what they r doing now! 🫶🙏

There are only 2 possible scenarios here, 50/50: 1. It’s Carly’s decision to cease communication (which we would respect COMPLETELY & wouldn’t even need to address it publicly) OR 2. Carly desires to keep access open to communication, but can’t because of her parents & for the sole possibility, that it could be scenario .2, then I believe it is my duty to fight my hardest to get her the information & access that she deserves

@TylerBaltierra With all do respect IMO i think you should keep this a private matter. Keep a journal if there’s things you want to share. Sharing it with the public is not cool. She’s a teen now. You don’t know who’s seeing all of this

@OhMariaaaax3 @TylerBaltierra That biological piece is a significant piece though - they gave her life. I don’t think they are entitled but they want their daughter to know that they made an effort to be involved in her life.

@OhMariaaaax3 @TylerBaltierra She has adoptive parents and that was a privilege, a privilege that her real parents gave them when they chose them to adopt Carly. I'd like to know why all of a sudden yearly visits are such an issue with her adoptive parents 🤔

@TheAshleysRR B&T have cut off the biological parents of both of their adopted children. The understanding was open adoption, updates 2x/yr and occasional meetups at their discretion. If they wanted closed adoptions then they should’ve gone that route.

@TheAshleysRR There was absolutely nothing wrong w/ Cate sending those messages. I fully agree w/ Cate saying B&T must feel threatened. Carly is 15 & only 3 years away from her being free to make her own choice. I understand why Cate is releasing her side hoping that Carly is not manipulated.
