On the one hand, it’s great to see Nintendo show off the Donkey Kong theme park wing even without a new (original) game to promote. On the other, it will never not be insane that they’ve yet to even announce a new (original) game in the 9+ years this theme park has been planned.

Meanwhile, no Donkey Kong Switch means a theme park that, as beautiful as it is, will adhere strictly to 14-year-old Returns elements instead of melding in the series’ past and future, K. Rool and otherwise. I can only hope they ease up on these content limitations down the road.

RtKI Easter Eggs: Klampon is seen using a cellular device marked with a banana icon. This is a soft nod to the episode ‘Bug A Boogie’ where DK and Diddy use banana phones. Klampon’s typing sounds are also the sound effect used for collecting bananas in the original DKC trilogy.
