Everyone has a hidden talent. Mine's doing nothing. When I'm not practising it, I write speculative fiction.

She swayed into a bow making a formal salute. The nearest courtiers hastily made space for her on their bench. "Your Majesties, please forgive this humble ambassador's late arrival." She set back her veil as she sat. People gasped. #vss365

The sight of the food flooded Natann's mouth with saliva and he had to swallow before he could speak. He began to relate what the patrol had found, prompted by Torslin's brusque questions. The memory of the fal-worms took away the desire to eat. #vss365

There are muscles that are dormant until we awaken to their weakness perhaps after a lifetime of taking them for granted and they mirror the spiritual world the great unknown asleep until we cry out for help then nourish its companionship in years well-lived #sedserio

So must the world seem keen and very bright To one whose gaze is on the end of things, Who knows, past summer lush, brimmed autumn’s height, No promise in the inevitable springs, All stripped of shadow down to bone of light, The false songs gone and gone the restless wings.

I think of the roads that led to this point of existence raindrops on the balcony the lake in the distance with a few years left to get ready for that ride across the universe not knowing where the sky will end or who will greet me with a question #sedserio #poetry

The tree was festooned with webs. A monkey might be puzzled, but spiders had no trouble travelling the boughs that snagged the mist. When the sun rose, they became strings of diamonds. Inside, the tinsel-decked tree felt drab. #SlapDashSat

If she had watched more carefully, she would have known what to expect from her first birth-song. She had tried asking Ussu when her sister had told her she was pregnant. "If you were normal I wouldn't need to tell you." #SciFiFri

A smile as wide as the ocean ferries the storm-rocked in dinghies to port I walk down a road that curves like a smile and tells me meaning is in the gait The sky trades me one smile for all the fumbles in my life without a dark regret #sedserio #TankaThursday #poetrylovers

Mama G sips from her sherry glass. ‘Well, this is #idyllic, Pixie. You & me having a nice chat while Gabriam finishes his important business.’ Ha! Important business! It’s cost him a months worth of last brownies to slink off to the Angel Arms. I smile & nod my head. #vss365

‘This sacred place is just weird. Why does the tree demand bodies? And what has that got to do with the winged figure?’ ‘Without a deep dive into local history and traditions, I’m not sure we’ll ever know the answer.’ ‘How unsatisfying is that?’ Karrion huffs. #1linewed
