2027 WR Jordan Lockett has committed to South Dakota State 🐰 The 6-0, 175 pound wide receiver from Blue Valley High School chose the Jackrabbits over offers from Missouri State, Northern Iowa, Old Dominion, and others.

Kansas State will begin selling alcohol stadium wide at Bill Snyder Family Stadium starting with the 2026 home opener against Nicholls on Sept. 5. Fans will be able to purchase beer, seltzers, canned cocktails, and wine at multiple locations throughout the stadium and return to their seats. K-State will also continue its longstanding re-entry policy, allowing fans to leave for tailgates and re-enter with a valid ticket. Athletics Director Gene Taylor said the move comes after years of research and is expected to generate additional revenue while helping keep fans in their seats throughout games.

Hays High School names Brett Meyer as next head cross country coach. Meyer joins the Indians after seven seasons on the Fort Hays State cross country and track & field coaching staff, where he worked primarily with cross country and middle/long distance athletes. A Scott City native and former Fort Hays State standout, Meyer is a six-time All-American, NCAA Division II 1,500m national champion, professional runner, and Olympic Trials competitor.

Gardner Edgerton names Avery Smith as next head girls soccer coach. Smith joins the Blazers after serving as an assistant coach at Avila University and coaching with KC Legends Soccer Club. A former standout at St. Teresa’s Academy and Kansas Wesleyan, Smith was named KCAC Champion of Character and earned KCAC Scholar-Athlete honors during her collegiate career.

C Mihailo Mušikić has committed to Kansas Basketball 🔴🔵 The 6-11 Serbian center has played professionally in Europe for five seasons and is in the process of gaining NCAA eligibility. If cleared, he’ll join the Jayhawks later this year after most recently playing for Sloga Kraljevo, where he averaged 10.9 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.

🏀 March Madness is coming back to Wichita. The NCAA has officially awarded Wichita the hosting rights for the Opening Round of the 2027 and 2028 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship at Intrust Bank Arena. With the NCAA Tournament expanding from 68 to 76 teams, Wichita will join Dayton as one of just two cities hosting the Opening Round, featuring tripleheaders on both Tuesday and Wednesday following Selection Sunday. Wichita previously hosted NCAA Tournament games in 2018 and 2025, and will once again welcome March Madness to the Air Capital in 2027 and 2028.

Kansas Athletics has announced a groundbreaking five year partnership with Ripple, making XRP the first cryptocurrency to appear as a jersey patch for a major college athletics program. The deal is reportedly among the most lucrative jersey patch agreements in college athletics and will place the XRP logo on Jayhawk athletic uniforms. Ripple CEO and Kansas alumnus Brad Garlinghouse helped bring the partnership together, which will also include financial and technology education opportunities for KU student athletes.
