Glacier Drop Redemptions Update: Glacier Drop redemptions will resume today at 17:00 UTC. Following our recent announcement to pause Glacier Drop redemptions due to a security incident affecting a subset of Cardano wallets associated with @secondfiapp, we have made the decision to reopen the Redemption portal at 17:00 UTC today. The pause was introduced as a temporary precaution while the potential impact of the incident was assessed. We are now satisfied there is no risk to the redemption infrastructure or systems. This pause has not impacted the original Redemption schedule. Any NIGHT that thawed during the suspension period is now redeemable. When a provider closed their API recently, we switched. When a vulnerability gets flagged in the ecosystem, we check if we use that package.

Cardano is now in the Voltaire era. So the question is not only: "Is Cardano safe?" The better question is: "Are we actually paying attention?" DReps, proposals, treasury spending. These things matter now. If we check the ADA price every day but never look at governance, then we are leaving the door open for someone else to decide. Cardano’s safety will not come from structure alone. It will come from people actually showing up.

After that, the attacker withdrew the BONK they had deposited into governance. So the flow was simple: get temporary voting power, pass the proposal, drain the treasury, withdraw the voting power. Brutal, but very clean. This could have been much harder with basic safeguards: proposal alerts, treasury transfer monitoring, execution timelocks, higher quorum, and voting power that cannot be rented for a day. But tools only help if people are watching.

■ BonkDAO Governance Incident: Is Cardano Safe? This is about the recent BonkDAO governance incident. At first glance, it looks like another crypto hack. But it was a bit different. The smart contract was not broken. Governance worked as configured, and that was the problem. So, is Cardano safe? I think Cardano is much more careful in how governance is designed. But no chain is safe just because the system looks good on paper. If people do not participate, governance can still be captured. That is the uncomfortable part. Here is what happened with BonkDAO.
