Thinking of his family, friends, and @SpectrumNews1TX colleagues this morning. Dan was very encouraging to me when I first arrived at KTRE and we were just talking about him at a KTRE alumni reunion in February.

Many of our weather watchers received some notable rainfall totals from today. The rainfall amounts do vary quite a bit, depending on your location. The highest rainfall amounts were confined to residents in Cherokee, Houston, and Rusk counties. #etxwx

We have some heavy downpours lining up along the Highway 19 corridor, stretching from Trinity to Lovelady, extending up to Crockett. I have a feeling may residents in Houston and Trinity counties are smiling right now. #etxwx

We are running a near 6" deficit through the first quarter of 2026. Thankfully, we do have increasing rain and storm chances as we flip the calendar to April in the days ahead. #etxwx

We end March with another rainfall deficit in the books. This makes the 9th straight month of below average rainfall at LFK dating back to last July. Some weather watchers had near normal rainfall this month. #etxwx

This will make the ninth consecutive month with the Angelina County Airport receiving below normal rainfall dating back to last July. As we turn the calendar to April this week, we will enter into a more favorable weather pattern to see rain going into Easter weekend. #etxwx

It has been over two week since we received our last measurable rainfall and nearly three weeks since we had a good soaking. With no rainfall likely today or tomorrow, we will end March with a rainfall deficit of near two inches. #etxwx

Tonight's cold front will bring cooler vibes to east Texas for your Saturday. This cool down will be short-lived as the quick return to southerly winds will lead to a fast warm-up by Sunday afternoon. #etxwx ktre.com/weather

Enhanced Wildfire Risk on Saturday! 🔥 Gusty, northeasterly winds, dry fuels, and low humidity will lead to another enhanced wildfire risk day across east Texas on Saturday. Please refrain from doing any outdoor burning, even if your county is not under a burn ban. #etxwx
