Had some adversity - but still finished 3rd in the Region - best in school history. Proud of our team reaching this goal and those moving on the state meet. Adam - Shot/Disc Regional Champion in both Maddox - 800 Regional Champion Cadyn - 3rd in the 110H gets the wildcard

Dwight Bennett thought he was a sprinter. Topped out at 54 in the 400. I said the thing every 400 kid dreads: “Have you thought about cross country?” He bought in. Two seasons later, he’s a 1:57 guy going to Regionals. At District, he had a PR of 2:01. Seeded 12th. Only 8 made finals. He barely made it—less than a second from being done. I told him: “Your goal lives on the other side of pain. Not around it. Through it.” In the final? 1:59.91. 4th place. Last spot to Area. Won it by 0.41. Last week at Area, we dialed in foot speed + strategy. I said, “When the pain hits—go toward it.” He ran 1:57.79. Finished 3rd. Qualified for Regionals. After the race he yelled, “I did it! I DID IT!” We hugged like he’d won the Olympic Trials. Honestly? It felt like he had. This is why I coach. Not for medals. But for that moment when a kid realizes—he’s not who he used to be. Let’s go, Dwight. 👊
