I've had the chance to fly to the space station on different spacecraft over the years and it's very easy to see the progression of technology. The Dragon is pretty much hands off, it has the ability to detect and correct a failure or abnormality, whereas in the shuttle we were throwing switches left and right to try and keep up with things. So it's important to keep the next generation of space stations evolvable with the ability to be updated as technology inevitably progresses.
