Thanks to @UniofAdelaide researchers Chris Preston & @RC_daSilva for walking me through their new @thegrdc farming systems trial at Roseworthy today. It was great to hear their philosophy about this trial & the other 8. Photo 3-

@agintegrity @AdvConsultants @EverestToday Best of luck reaching the summit. Thoughts are with the family who lost three Sherpa’s this season making a path up the glacier. We did EBC, just before the snow hit, loved every minute.

@theGRDC @UWAresearch @DPIRDbroadacre @MurdochUni @SoilsWest Will this project explore strategies to reduce N losses as well as where current losses are occurring?
English

A new national research project is investigating the dynamics of nitrogen (N) cycling and losses across a range of soil and environmental conditions within the Australian grains industry: bit.ly/3DIa9fh

@lindsaywbell @gsandral @dr_dirt_oz @GRDCNorth what was the difference ( if any) in starting soil water between the two systems?
English

How do chickpea yields respond to fallow water accumulation? Perfect opportunity for comparisons this year at #farmingsystemsnorth core site. Left - double-cropped after sorghum vs Right - fallow after wheat. @dr_dirt_oz @GRDCNorth

We’ve reached polishing tractors stage of keeping casual staff busy cause I’m not game to let the good ones go! #backpackershortage

@AgroJAK @theGRDC @CSIRO @Master4Colin have you had a discussion with JK? So many factors to consider re emergence that you know better than most. Including single factor and interactions of the following; temp , depth, size and seed composition and not in that order!

@ludeydookie @cropmad @tony_swan64 Did stubble treatments influence crop development/ days to maturity?
English

@cropmad @tony_swan64 Had a stubble trial at home a few years ago with temperature sensors in each one, burnt, windrowed straw off, mulched through harvester and knee high stubble. Long stubble was the worst in frost, resulting in colder conditions and for a longer period as well as the lowest yielding
English

How’s the Stripper vs Draper trial looking @tony_swan64 ? Canola breaking all the rules over at home!!

@jlaycock55 maybe you need to invest in a spreader (NSW DPI Tamworth did it), unless of course you are worried about herbicide residue or nutrient transfer between plots, or perhaps not getting another year like it!
English

Thinking of those who have unfortunately found themselves under some unwanted storm clouds in central NSW. Significant hail damage to the Tottenham/Fifield canola trial site yesterday, nervous wait for everyone #gutted

English

@jlaycock55 amazing James, you can spot N and P responses out your window with one hand on the steering wheel. That is professional experience for you.

Our Tamworth research farm has just celebrated its 5th birthday, & what a difference five years makes! From an unassuming cow paddock to an irrigated, multi-crop trial site, it's played an active role in developing innovative solutions for Australian growers #ConfidenceGrowsHere

@lindsaywbell Looks like that soil could hold abit of moisture and provide essential nutrients to produce that biomass. #Grazingwithnosheep

@lindsaywbell What is that green stuff on the right of the plots?
English

Mungbeans sown on 22 Jan @theGRDC northern farming systems core research site. Fantastic ground coverage and biomass already - just needs to convert to yield now
