Not everyone sees this side of Coach Morgan, he’s tough on us, but he only wants the best out of us. We were down by 18 at halftime and as a team we came back to win, I had my career high at 46 points and 14 rebounds. Team win and some great assists from our floor general #2GrantSimpson. A write up from our Dawgs about this game. 💥Dawg Mentality on Full Display in Statement Win Over Assassins Elite💥 In one of the most electric performances of the summer circuit, #7 Samuel Rich put the Dawg Nation on his back and delivered a career-defining game, erupting for 46 points and 14 rebounds in a gritty 69-63 comeback victory over Assassins Elite. Down 18 at halftime, the Morgan Dawgs Elite didn’t flinch. Instead, they responded with signature Dawg Defense, next-level hustle, and relentless heart—embodying everything Coach Ed Morgan instills in his squad. “This was the type of game that defines who we are as a program,” said Coach Morgan. “I couldn’t be more proud of the grit, poise, and passion our guys showed. Samuel’s performance was legendary, but it was a total team win.” Rich, a 6’4” SG from the Class of 2028, was unstoppable. He shot 11-of-22 from the field, knocked down 10-of-17 inside the arc, and was a flawless 23-of-23 at the free throw line—an elite mark of composure under pressure. His 14 boards sealed the double-double, and his intensity on both ends fueled the Dawgs’ second-half surge. But this wasn’t a one-man show. •#2 Grant Simpson ran the offense like a seasoned floor general, finishing with 9 points, 7 assists, and 2 steals, setting the tempo and making smart reads in transition. •#23 Kaidyn Duncan brought muscle and finesse in the paint, racking up 6 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists while locking down the Assassins’ bigs. •#6 Zakary Gurney added 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals, showcasing his versatility as a two-way wing. Statistically, the Dawgs shot 30.8% (16-of-52) from the field but dominated where it counted—shooting a jaw-dropping 35-of-41 from the line. They outrebounded the Assassins 43-34 and forced 12 key turnovers, flipping the script in the second half. Assassins Elite was led by their sharpshooter #22, who poured in 29 points on 8 triples, and playmaker #10, who added 11 points and 6 dimes. But it wasn’t enough to overcome the Dawgs’ defensive pressure and late-game execution. This win wasn’t just another tally in the win column—it was a statement. The Morgan Dawgs are here, and #7 Samuel Rich is a name college coaches and scouts need to circle, underline, and remember.
