One thing I've always been irked by, is the sort of crowning of Die Hard as the greatest Action movie of all time.

@diegozicob @FF8_Garden @hellfireomens XVI feels at times very classic. I think future gamers will look back one day and love it. So yeah, they almost pulled this off in this generation as well.

@GangsterCinema What a lot of people don't realize is John Woo replicated a lot of the Japanese and European gangster films he grew up with. This particular scene is from a 1964 Teruo Ishii film called An Outlaw. Woo expands upon it, of course, but once you've seen it you'll know right away.

The Killer (1989) Dir. John Woo Quentin Tarantino on why John Woo’s films were better than most American action films. "What he does that Americans don't have is he just has good ideas, like in "The Killer." When it comes to the woman's, the blind gal's apartment, all right, the cop and the hit man are there and they can't say who they are, so the blind girl doesn't know, but they each get like a Mexican standoff going there, but they gotta act like they don't. That stuff is just incredible, man. I mean, you'd watch 20 years of American movies and never see anything that clever."

Back to my roots. Action films and in particular martial arts films. So here’s my top 16 of all time. Tried to keep it varied. One film per franchise. You may not agree and that’s fine. Yes Enter the Dragon is 1 cause it’s my favorite martial arts film ever.

My only #ChuckNorris story is about an actor friend of mine who got called in to play a bad guy on WALKER, TEXAS RANGER. My friend is slight, maybe 5’9” tall. He asked the casting director “Do you really think I’m the right type?” “You’re the right height.”

@kungfupete It annoys me that there are loads of directors and martial artists that are qualified for such jobs. What does the director of a drama series know about martial arts?

We live in an era with more Hollywood martial arts movie made than ever but with fewer stars who actually knows martial arts. Like JCVD was probably one of the least skilled martial arts stars of his era but we have no one right now who’s even remotely close to him.

"I May Destroy You" creator Michaela Coel is writing and directing a remake of Jean-Claude Van Damme's martial arts classic "Bloodsport" for A24. "I have long been in awe of fighters, and astounded by the discipline, intensity and isolation the sport demands of them," Coel said. I am excited to explore this world, especially so with A24 as my collaborators. LET'S FUCKING GO." wp.me/pc8uak-1lH1XX

A Better Tomorrow – 1986 Dir. John Woo John Woo on why he had Chow Yun-fat dual wielding Berettas. “I didn't want my hero using machine gun. I think the people who using machine gun, it's not a hero. You can shoot - kill anybody so easily, you know? I want my hero, one gun, and then two, because I wanted to get a sound like music, like a drum beat, you know? ...That was the start, from that the movie. And it worked pretty well - it shocked the audience when they saw that scene of two guns, they went crazy.”

@NostalgiaVerse7 Yes, it should be interesting to see how they tie all of these elements in together here. I suppose since they blamed Wutai for "weather warfare" they'll do the same with Meteor. Also would make the Tifa execution work better.

I wanted Rebirth to end after Cloud hands the Black Materia to Sephiroth in the Northern Crater...Because it was the perfect Empire Strikes Back ending IMO...but also because I thought that moment shouldnt be relegated to the opening tutorial section of Part 3...but here we are..

🚨 HOLY CRAP — Kristi Noem just testified UNDER OATH that the Biden regime was PAYING child traffickers to sponsor unaccompanied minors coming across the border Mayorkas and Biden should be in PRISON for this. “The government was PAYING individuals that were knowingly trafficking them and abusing them. That has stopped.” “Unaccompanied alien children were LOST by the Biden administration, not tracked. We've located about 145,000 of them”

The tangible proof isn’t out there ie) financial records visible to the public and whatnot. This has been a common talking point since trump’s announcement to run again for president. It wasn’t included in any government website until after he was elected. So I take the proof with a grain of salt as this administration in particular has lied and fudged numbers consistently/pointed the blame at others for their actions. If there ever is proof though I’d be interested in seeing it. homeland.house.gov/2025/07/17/its… dhs.gov/news/2025/11/1…
