Last time I checked, 45-50% of the federal budget (even up to 60%) goes towards social programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. Which is about ~3 trillion dollars on the low end. The SLS program has cost NASA over $31.6B of taxpayer funds. The Starship program has cost SpaceX around ~$8B of private funds. Not even remotely comparable.

@lebronthugshots @OmanTheHuman1 @TheAstroN8 While SLS is reusing launch infrastructure, Space Shuttle RS-25 engines, Space Shuttle SRBs, etc. SLS has also only launched twice, whereas Starship has launched (full stack) 11 times. Starship has already proven itself to be more cost-saving and efficient than SLS.
