Last week, I visited the Arunachaleswarar Temple in Thiruvannamalai for Girivalam on a Sunday. Near the Rajagopuram shops, I enquired about the crowd inside the temple. To my surprise, the crowd was very minimal around 7:15 PM. Since I hadn’t had the opportunity to get Annamalaiyar’s darshan for the past 1.5 years, I decided to try my luck. Thankfully, I was able to have a peaceful darshan within just 15 minutes. The temple atmosphere was calm and less crowded, which allowed me to stay inside for another 40 minutes, soaking in the divine presence. It truly turned out to be one of the most peaceful and memorable darshans. If you are planning to visit the temple, weekdays (Monday to Thursday) are generally the best time to experience a smoother darshan. Also, please note that the temple entry gates usually close between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM, depending on the crowd inside the temple. Annamalaiyarylukku Arogara! Annamalaiyarylukku Arogara!

Samayapuram Amman Fasting for the Welfare of Humanity This sacred fast observed by Samayapuram Mariamman is known as the Pachai Pattini Viratham. The Pachai Pattini Viratham begins on the last Sunday of the Tamil month Maasi and continues until the last Sunday of Panguni. During these 28 days, the Goddess is believed to be in deep penance (தவம்) for: •Protection of her devotees •Removal of suffering •Welfare of the world Unlike regular temple rituals: ❌ No cooked food (thaligai) is offered ✅ Only cooling and natural offerings are made, such as: •Thullumaavu (rice flour mix) •Grapes •Tender coconut •Panagam (jaggery drink) •Oranges Special Ritual: Poochoridhal To support the Goddess during her fast, the sanctum is filled with flower offerings (Poochoridhal). Poochoridhal dates this year: March 8, 2026 March 15, 2026 March 22, 2026 March 29, 2026 April 5, 2026 Chithirai Ther Thiruvizha - April 14, 2026

Samayapuram is the only temple in the world where Goddess Mariyamman observes a fast for the welfare of humanity. This occurs in the Tamil month of Masi (February-March), when Mariyamman fasts for 28 days. During this period, only liquid offerings such as tender coconut water and orange juice are made as Neivedhyam, with no solid food being offered. The fasting period culminates in the famous Poo Choridhal ceremony, an abhishekam with flowers. Thousands of devotees also observe fasts during this time #1 Pic credit: to the respective owners

The Panguni Chariot Festival was celebrated with great grandeur at the Jambukeswarar Akilandeswari Temple in Thiruvanaikaval. It is one of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams and Panchabhuta Sthalam representing the element of water. Thousands of devotees gathered to pull the temple chariot using its ropes. The Panguni Brahmotsavam at this temple is a grand 48-day celebration. One of the most important events of this festival is the Therottam (chariot procession), which takes place in the Tamil month of Panguni. This year, it is being observed on March 20, 2026.

40 Lessons At 40 Today I turn 40.Four decades of life - some wisdom, some chaos, a few scars, many laughs, and stories I’ll probably tell forever. Here are 40 things life gently (and sometimes brutally 😄) taught me before 40. 👇 1. I once lost my peace chasing things that didn’t matter. Now I guard it like treasure. 2. I used to reply to everything. Now I know silence can be the best response. 3. Some people blessed my life. Others taught me lessons I couldn’t ignore. 4. I ignored sleep for years. Now I respect rest; naps feel divine. 5. My circle used to be big. Life slowly made it smaller and better. 6. I ignored my gut before. Each mistake taught me to trust it. 7. I assumed time was endless. Now I call loved ones while I still can. 8. On some hard days, a good book quietly repaired me. 9. I’ve watched many problems soften over a cup of tea. 10. I stayed comfortable too long. Growth began when I stepped out. 11. I once neglected my body. Now I treat it like the home it is. 12. I compared my life with others. It only stole my joy. 13. Travel taught me more than any classroom. 14. Doors closed on me before. Later I realized they protected me. 15. Gratitude turned ordinary days into golden ones. 16. I watched discipline quietly beat talent again and again. 17. I entertained drama once. Walking away gave me peace. 18. Pain visited often but It always left wisdom behind. 19. Traditions reminded me I’m part of something older than myself. 20. I thought strength was loud. Life showed me it’s often quiet. 21. My family is imperfect and complicated and still a blessing. 22. I learned loyal friends are rarer than diamonds. 23. I chased complexity before discovering simplicity is luxury. 24. I gave too many people front-row seats in my life. Now I choose carefully. 25. Faith in something bigger steadied me during storms. 26. I carried resentment once. Forgiveness finally freed me. 27. Courage, I learned, often looks like quiet persistence. 28. I spoke carelessly before. Life taught me words matter. 29. Tough times revealed true character; 'mine and others’. 30. Curiosity kept my mind young when life felt stagnant. 31. Life rarely followed my plans and that turned out okay. 32. I saw how slowly respect is built and how quickly it can vanish. 33. Anger solved nothing. Calm thinking did. 34. I tried living other people’s stories. Now I own my own. 35. Every decade changed me in ways I never expected. 36. I used to talk more. Now I listen more. 37. I learned to celebrate small wins. 38. Life reminded me to never stop learning. 39. I learned to love deeply, because life is fragile. And today, turning forty doesn’t feel old. It feels like unlocking a new level. Grateful for the journey so far.Excited for the chapters yet to be written. Life at 40 feels like poetry- a little wiser, a little lighter, and still beautifully unfinished. Happy birthday to self ❤️ 🙏🏻
