@NextBestPicture Do you think that there’s any chance that Jon M. Chu gets nominated for this one considering his Critics Choice win for the first one? Maybe a Peter Jackson-esqe narrative for finishing the story strong?

Thank goodness! As a longtime fan of the stage musical, WICKED: FOR GOOD is nearly everything I could’ve hoped for in a cinematic adaptation of Act II. You can feel Jon M. Chu’s passion radiate throughout, as the gorgeous costumes, highly detailed makeup, and fantastical production design are, once again, nothing short of dazzling. The second half of the story is more somber than the first, but that tonal shift gives Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande-Butera the space to deliver their most powerful and emotionally resonant work of the two films, especially in the moving climax. While this second half may not fly as high on its own as the first (some will undoubtedly favor that one for its brighter energy and more iconic songs), taken together, I couldn’t be happier.
