@EbbaQ Azhar no doubt is an excellent man-manager. At this level, a player doesn’t need much coaching. It’s the conveyance of right advice at the right time is far more significant. Babar was on top of his game, especially around 2019-20 when Azhar was part of the team management.

In my opinion, the poor international performance wasn’t due to the lack of ability for Pakistan’s premier batter. It was primarily a long slump in form which many top international players from other nations have faced in their careers. On the contrary, bowling stock lack the ability, be it local franchise league or on the global stage.

Due to lack of participation in other national T20 tournaments —the only other place to gauge the players performances is the PSL, which albeit momentarily allows amnesia to take hold of the public conscious —conveniently masking their poor international performances.

@Imran_Javeed_ You’ve hit the nail on the head! 👍🏼 Babar (as always) was criticised for 59 runs off 45 balls, yet Fakhar wasn’t even mentioned for his 58 off 47 balls. Had LQ not had the likes of Sam and Raza saving the grace for them, LQ would have lost yesterday. So was Fakhar not to blame?

Today is the good old 24th of April again. As some of you may recall, Sachin Tendulkar and I share the same birthday. It seems to happen every single year. Between us, we’ve won the World Cup, scored 34,357 international runs and taken 201 international wickets. We’ve even managed to take more 5 wicket hauls in ODIs than Warnie. So happy birthday to us @sachin_rt — and thank you for your contribution to our wonderful and very longstanding partnership 😉 And, as an aside, thank you also to so many of you who have kept me company here and in the real world over the last year. It’s been a lot of fun. Your friendship is very much valued. Hopefully, I’ve kept you entertained. Thank you in particular to my extended family at @SWCCcrocus and @surreycricket and also to my newfound friends at @rajasthanroyals — cricket and our community make such a positive difference to my life.
