Kame Exploit Summary – September 12, 2025 On September 12, 2025, Kame Aggregator suffered an exploit caused by a design flaw in the swap() function, which allowed arbitrary executor calls. This vulnerability enabled attackers to drain tokens from users who had granted unlimited or oversized approvals to the AggregationRouter. 36 hours have passed since the incident of Kame Aggregator. To be honest, these have been the longest 36 hours we have ever experienced since building on @SeiNetwork . This is a major lesson for us, as the team was overconfident and consequently, Kame's loyal users had to bear the consequences. Above all, we are the ones who will take the highest responsibility for the losses of Kame users. We are actively working with relevant organizations to find solutions to address the consequences, with the most important goal being to minimize the losses for Kame users and related projects. One of the hackers and a white hat hacker have returned a portion of the money from the exploit, which is one of the positive updates we can share with users affected by the Kame incident. The compensation plan is being discussed and will be announced as soon as official information is available. We sincerely hope to receive your understanding and continued support to continue our journey of building on Sei. We sincerely apologize to those who trusted Kame and thank you for your support during this difficult time.

One of the widely used aggregators appears to have been hacked. Most wallets that were drained had interacted with @kame_agg (backed by the SEI Foundation). From what we’re seeing, you likely lost only the assets you swapped through Kame (or explicitly approved there). The total loss is over a million - an amount the @Sei_FND could realistically help cover. No one needed to add liquidity anywhere; funds were drained from self-custody wallets simply because we interacted with Kame at some point in the past. Most victims seem to be native SEI users, many of them small users like me. The most painful part for me is losing 1.7 ETH from one of my wallets. Other assets in that wallet are fine, and funds on other chains tied to that wallet are also fine. Unfortunately, there’s no Discord where we can share updates or get information. We hope Kame and SEI communicates clearly and provide something reassuring. I remember Yei getting hacked in their early days. They communicated quickly, coordinated with SEI, and reimbursed users. Another SEI platform, Filament Finance, was also hacked, and @abhitejxyz was very proactive and helpful; he stayed engaged and recovered 100% of the funds. This time, it’s Kame. I hope they act proactively and take every necessary step to recover funds from the attacker. If that fails, I hope the SEI Foundation steps in to help. If they don’t, many small, long-time supporters who have advocated for SEI, used its protocols, and invested their time and money may lose their funds and the confidence to keep building here.
