We’re still seeing Coinbase users panic about 1099-DAs and missing cost basis (and whether they need to fix this in Coinbase). You don’t need to do this for your 2025 return. Coinbase will not report cost basis to the IRS for 2025 transactions, even if you amend your tax lots. For this April’s filing deadline, the process for those using crypto tax calculators isn’t hugely different from last year (despite the stress and confusion). 1️⃣ Pick your crypto tax software. Import your data. Review. Reconcile. 2️⃣ Upload any 1099-DAs you received. 3️⃣ Generate your tax forms as usual. On Form 8949, txns will be marked as not reported on a 1099-DA, reported with cost basis, or reported without cost basis. Most centralized exchange transactions will show as reported without cost basis. It’s expected. Exchanges are not obligated to report cost basis for 2025 transactions under current IRS rules.

@HexiBen @KoinlyOfficial @sc00717 @idan503 I looked it up, if you already imported your transactions and they all look correct, then you don't have to upload the 1099-DA to Koinly. The 1099-DA is just supposed to "help" you, it's not a new tax report to file. Chatgpt says TurboTax doesn’t require the 1099-DA🤷‍♂️

@KoinlyOfficial @sc00717 @idan503 My question is what do you mean by both sources? If the TurboTax gain/loss report fills in everything that’s required for TurboTax, including 8949, why are the 1099s needed to be uploaded? I read the article but I am still confused?
