OFFICIAL STATEMENT My dear people of Surulere Constituency I, I greet you all with profound respect and gratitude. A few days ago, I obtained the nomination form to seek a return mandate to the Lagos State House of Assembly to represent Surulere Constituency I. I write to formally inform all residents, workers, political associates, leaders, stakeholders, and the good people of Surulere of this decision. This step is born out of my continued commitment to serve, to consolidate the progress we have made together, and to further advance our collective aspirations. I remain deeply grateful for the trust, encouragement, and solidarity you have shown me over the years. By the grace of God, my return to the House will confer ranking status on our constituency. In a system where experience is recognized, this position will attract greater attention and benefits for our people. To our party leaders in Surulere Local Government, ward executives, community leaders, youth groups, women’s associations, and all stakeholders across Lagos State and beyond: I sincerely appreciate your unwavering support, guidance, and belief in our shared vision. I appeal to all my supporters to remain calm, steadfast, and focused. Let us continue to uphold peace, unity, and respect as we move forward on this journey together. Our strength has always been in our togetherness, and I am confident that the same spirit will see us through. I do not take your support for granted. Together, we will continue to build a stronger Surulere and contribute meaningfully to the development of Lagos State. Thank you all. May we continue to move forward in unity and purpose. Signed, Hon. Desmond Olushola Elliott Member representing Surulere Constituency I Lagos State House of Assembly

The reasonable and useful ones among the Obidients have already left their camp, people like Ken Okonkwo. The ones remaining with Obi are the riffraffs.

In 2002, Ojukwu traveled all the way from Anambra to meet Peter Obi in his Lagos residence, asking him (Obi) to run for Governor of Anambra State. Peter Obi came down to Anambra and got an automatic ticket to become APGA's concensus candidate. There was no primaries, no consultations, no opponent, it was just Peter Obi flying the APGA flag. With the help of the Catholic Church Association in Anambra, Peter Obi became governor after his court case with Ngige. In 2022, Peter Obi was welcomed into Labour Party after he left PDP because of his allergic relationship with Primary elections. The leadership of Labour Party held a low budget Presidential Primaries in a Hotel Conference Room in Delta State where Peter Obi won the primaries as the only candidate of the Party. Today, Peter Obi has left ADC barely after 8 weeks of registering with the party because he is still afraid of competing with other candidates in the primaries and now looking for another party like the Labour Party where he can get the ticket on a platter without any opponent. So what should we call this? Political Cowardice or Inferiority Complex?

Dear Peter Obi, @PeterObi If no one has taken the time to clearly explain the consequences of your current political path, allow me to do so in simple terms, sir. You are positioning yourself against a sitting president from the South who still has four years left to complete an expected eight-year tenure. At the same time, you have publicly committed to serving only one term if elected and handing over to RMK. Furthermore, if your joint ticket with RMK does not succeed, you would then be expected, by your own logic and the prevailing political arrangement, to support him in 2031, when it would be the North’s turn to produce the president. In practical terms, this means you have effectively narrowed your own window to just one real opportunity: 2027. That is the hard truth. You are, by your own design, placing a strict limit on your political lifespan at the very moment it should be expanding. Politics at this level is not just about ambition, it is about timing, structure, and long-term positioning. By locking yourself into these commitments, you risk stepping out of the race earlier than necessary. If this is a deliberate strategy, then it is a bold one. But if not, then it deserves a deeper reflection.

Abdul-Aziz Na'ibi Abubakar
PRESS RELEASE Atiku Abubakar Sets Agenda for Proposed US Visit Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has declared that his forthcoming engagement with policy and institutional stakeholders in the United States will be driven by one overriding concern: the alarming deterioration of security, governance, and economic stability in Nigeria. Atiku states plainly that Nigeria is facing a full-blown internal crisis, one that can no longer be downplayed, politicized, or explained away. From the ravaging violence in the North-West and North-East, to the persistent bloodshed in the Middle Belt, and the growing spread of kidnapping and criminality across the country, Atiku warns that the Nigerian state is steadily losing its grip on its most fundamental responsibility: the protection of lives and property. According to him, the situation has moved beyond isolated incidents to a pattern of systemic failure. Communities are being overrun, livelihoods destroyed, and citizens abandoned to their fate. He argues that any government that cannot guarantee basic security forfeits the moral basis of its mandate. The former Vice President also points to the deepening economic hardship confronting Nigerians, describing it as both severe and avoidable. He notes that rising inflation, a weakened currency, and collapsing purchasing power have pushed millions into distress, while policy inconsistency and lack of strategic direction continue to erode confidence in the economy. In his words, Nigerians are not just tired, they are being stretched to the limits of endurance. Atiku further raises concerns about the state of Nigeria’s democratic institutions, warning that declining public confidence in governance, accountability, and the electoral process poses a direct threat to national stability. As the country moves toward another election cycle, he insists that any attempt to undermine transparency or manipulate outcomes will carry serious consequences for both unity and legitimacy. Addressing the anticipated criticism of his international engagement, Atiku is unequivocal: telling the truth about Nigeria is not unpatriotic. He rejects the notion that engaging global partners amounts to inviting foreign interference, stressing that Nigeria does not exist in isolation and cannot pretend that its internal failures have no external implications. He maintains that the world already sees what is happening; the real question is whether Nigerian leaders are prepared to confront it honestly. He reiterates that only Nigerians will decide Nigeria’s leadership, but insists that international partners have a legitimate interest in the stability, governance standards, and democratic health of a country as strategically important as Nigeria. According to him, responsible leadership does not hide from scrutiny, it welcomes it as a pathway to improvement. In a direct message to the current administration, Atiku warns against complacency and deflection. He states that power is not an entitlement but a responsibility, and that Nigerians expect results, not explanations. He calls on the government to urgently reset its priorities, restore public confidence, and demonstrate a clear, credible strategy for addressing insecurity and economic decline. To Nigerians, he delivers a blunt reminder: no nation survives in silence. He urges citizens to remain vigilant, engaged, and unyielding in their demand for accountability, emphasizing that real change will not come from outside the country but from the collective will of its people. Atiku concludes that Nigeria stands at a critical juncture. The choice, he says, is between confronting hard truths now or allowing the country to drift further into instability. For him, the moment demands courage, honesty, and decisive leadership, anything less would be a disservice to the nation and its future. Signed: Paul Ibe Media Adviser to Atiku Abubakar Vice President of Nigeria, 1999-2007 Abuja 03 May, 2026.
