March was the second month of $GME Q1 Hardware spending in the US was up 69% YoY and up ~53% MoM from February. Nintendo Switch 2 was the primary driver, overtaking PS5 to claim the #1 spot in both units and dollar sales for the month. Lifetime Switch 2 sales through 10 months are now tracking 12% ahead of the original Switch at the same point, remaining the 2nd-fastest-selling hardware platform in US history, trailing only the Game Boy Advance. PS5 hardware spending was up 3% YoY despite a price hike announced March 27 (effective April 2), which sent weekly PS5 unit and dollar sales to 2026 highs in the week ending April 4. Software/content spending in the US was up 8% YoY and up ~14% MoM from February. Console content spending led the way, up 22% YoY, driven by a 40% surge in digital premium downloads. PC, Cloud, and Non-Console VR content surged 28% YoY, while non-mobile subscription spending climbed 20% YoY. MLB: The Show 26 debuted at #1 for the month and is already the 2nd-best-selling game of 2026 YTD. Resident Evil: Requiem remains the #1 game of 2026 YTD. For Collectibles and Toys in the US, total toy dollar sales were up 6% YoY, units up 3%, and average selling price up 4%, with 6 of 11 supercategories posting dollar growth led by Games & Puzzles (+37% YoY, primarily Pokémon), Building Sets (+15% YoY), and Explorative & Other Toys (+20% YoY) driven by NFL trading cards. Pokémon was the #1 toy property, the first in at least 20 years to reach that scale. On the collectibles side, trading card singles on eBay saw sports cards up 22% MoM, while CCG and non-sport singles (led by Pokémon) were up 41% MoM, with Charizard (+47% MoM), Pikachu (+54% MoM), Gengar (+82% MoM), and Mew (+69% MoM) all posting monster months. Grading volumes set an all-time record in March, up 19% MoM and up 50% YoY, with per business day grading up 3% MoM. PSA was up 16% MoM and +47% YoY, CGC up 33% MoM and +141% YoY, and Beckett up 21% MoM and +54% YoY, all three at record highs. Around 11 days left in Q1 to shop GameStop, make it count if you can afford to!
