The answer is in the semantics☺️
“You have blown the whistle to halt play…”
In the lay man’s tongue, halting is stopping. So at that moment the game is dead, meaning we can’t play on—so the try doesn’t stand.
NB: Don’t confuse it with blowing the whistle to award a penalty.

@KarrUganda Can you explain the offside at restart as in they kick the ball in opponents half. As players try to receive it, one is penalised for offside.

Advantage in general doesn’t have a fixed time limit, the referee reserves the right to judge it ‘gained’ or ‘not gained’ based on real benefit to the non offending team—have they had a genuine tactical and territorial opportunity?
