On 26 April, I was meant to fly home from Rome after a conference/holiday. Instead, I ended up being taken to hospital in an ambulance and later receiving surgery for a serious medical condition.
By God’s grace, I am being discharged this morning. After two weeks in hospital. 1/3

It’s hard to be alone and sick in a foreign city. But God showed His love to me through the kindness of strangers who I met in hospital, who brought me toiletries and pajamas, helped me and prayed with me.
My amazing cousin and sister rushed here to care for me. 2/3

Today I learnt the government used hallucinated data to draft the AI Policy making it fundamentally flawed and potentially unconstitutional.
The same government is confusing EV batteries with hydrogen fuel cells, two entirely different technology stacks.
We are attempting to regulate technologies we don’t fully understand.

This government has normalized its own toxic incompetence to the point of truly substandard fraud - which it clearly thought no one would check up on.
In any state capable of shame, people would be fired over this. Immediately.

Government used fake/made up sources in their National AI policy draft. News24 reports that at least 6 of them were fictitious. One was a completely made up journal, and another was a non existent article written by a non existent author in a real journal of philosophy.

@karynmaughan @KLM The very best of luck getting hold of KLM. You will be directed to the web and bot-chats. The call centre telephone line is a maze that directs you to the web and kills the call. If you do get an agent, s/he will provide standard answers from a prompt list.

@karynmaughan Karyn, there are and have always been competent and ethical people who were also qualified and are qualified to occupy these positions. However, because they wanted those who will serve the needs of the corrupt, they chose these specific individuals.

So proud to be one of the SA journalists who spoke at this year’s International Journalism Festival in Perugia, Italy.
It was inspiring to meet reporters who are facing threats and attacks for doing their jobs - but persist anyway. ❤️
