Apparently 1,000 is on the high end lol I got paid 300 last year for a quarter and then just multiplied by 3 and rounded up … but seriously, what a joke.

Imagine having a system where the mentor teacher, who supervises and intensely trains their student teacher everyday for a year, is given a measly $1,000 stipend, while the university, which teaches them nothing besides how to fill out a lesson plan template, is given $20,000.

If a student is failing - how many times did teacher contact parent? Offer tutoring? Allow redos? Make lessons engaging enough so students won’t be on phones? It’s all on teachers, and it’s exhausting. (I’m not against these things, but students should have responsiblity as well)
Fixing Education@FixingEducation

We are teaching in an age where accountability has been shifted almost entirely from students/parents TO teachers.

If you can have a strong degree of empathy while pushing students to achieve beyond what they thought was possible, you will build strong and lasting connections with students.

“Don’t coddle your kids, the world is brutal.” You’re correct, the world can be absolutely brutal, but HOME SHOULD NOT BE. Your children will be better equipped to deal with an unkind world when they know their home is safe.

You can tell a lot about a school's culture by walking through a school. Observe the office staff, custodians & staff/faculty in the hall, their demeanor & interactions with other staff & students. You can't fake a dynamic school culture. It is palpable!

#SageAdvice Some people will go above and beyond on their own. Don't over burden them with micromanagement. Many people won't do a thing more than meet your minimum expectations. And that means the minimum of what you will actually hold them to.
