Certain types of sea urchins will pick up a shell with their tube feet and ‘wear’ it, with a behavior known as “covering reaction”, mainly because they shy away from light. So aquarium enthusiasts 3D-printed tiny hats and they actually wear them.

An inspiring day today with @ProjectSeagrass today learning the @SeagrassWatch monitoring methods, spiced up by the discovery of an #asiandatemussel on Ryde Beach!

A very successful boat trip this week! We collected lots of lovely mud samples which will be used for understanding what species the Asian date #mussel occurs with. Couldn't have done it without @MountainCD and @LucyMartincx.

Thanks @ECSAssociation for the opportunity to present my research on the feeding rate of the non-native Asian date #mussel at your conference this week. There was a great selection of talks, including those by @AndyVDSOlivier and @marinebio_zoe about @ProjectRaNTrans.
