Told my very anti Catholic family member I’m Catholic now. Had a fun impromptu debate until midnight, but that was last reason I hadn’t been public about my conversion. Now no reason not to be open about it to everyone now. A great feeling, but also a bit of a weight to know my life is going to be a very public testimony to the Catholic Church. That is, if I do stupid things, people will say “see he never was a real Christian” and if I am noticeably a better person, I hope it would be seen as a credit to the Church and the grace for sanctification God gives through the sacraments.

A Mississippi man accused of killing a 10-year-old boy in a hit-and-run was found not guilty… then moments later allegedly spit toward the grieving family outside the courthouse. 😳 Cody Rollinson was acquitted in the 2025 death of 10-year-old Jordan Hill, who was killed after being hit by a pickup truck while riding an ATV near the roadway in Liberty, Mississippi. After the verdict, video showed Rollinson being escorted from court when someone asked if he had anything to say to the family. Instead, he appeared to spit in their direction. Rollinson admitted he left the scene but claimed he couldn’t call 911 because he had no cell service. Jordan died at the scene. The jury cleared Rollinson of all charges after about an hour of deliberation. Prayers for this little boy’s family. 💔😢

Here's a little-known fact about Archbishop Fulton Sheen, who will be beatified on September 24, 2026 during the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV: Venerable Fulton Sheen was actually… biritual. While he was ordained and served as a bishop in the Roman Catholic Church (Latin Rite), he received special canonical faculties from Pope Pius XII to also celebrate the Divine Liturgy in the Byzantine Rite. Fulton Sheen embraced the Byzantine Rite largely as a way to show spiritual closeness and solidarity with Eastern Christians, many of whom were facing severe persecution by communist regimes behind the Iron Curtain during the Cold War. In 1955, he celebrated a Hierarchical Byzantine Divine Liturgy for a crowd estimated at over 100,000 people at a major pilgrimage in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. This was a landmark event: it was the first public Byzantine Liturgy sung in English and the first ever celebrated by a Latin Rite bishop with special Vatican permission. He also provided commentary for the Byzantine Divine Liturgy during the Melkite National Convention in 1958, which was recorded and broadcast on national television. By doing so, he introduced the rich spiritual treasury of the Eastern Catholic Churches to millions of Western Catholics who might otherwise never have experienced it. Through his biritual faculties, Archbishop Sheen acted as a highly visible bridge between the Eastern and Western traditions of the Catholic Church.
