I had been taking the same bus to work every morning for almost three years. Every day, I noticed an elderly man sitting at the same bus stop with a small brown suitcase beside him. He never got on the bus. He simply smiled at everyone who passed by.
One rainy morning, I saw him struggling to keep his suitcase dry with an old newspaper. Instead of rushing to work, I walked over with my umbrella and offered to help. He thanked me warmly, and we sat together until the rain stopped.
Curious, I finally asked, “Why do you come here every day if you never travel?”
He smiled sadly and looked down at the suitcase.
“My daughter left this town ten years ago,” he said. “Before she left, she promised she’d return on this bus. I know she may never come back, but if she does, I don’t want her to think nobody was waiting.”
His words stayed with me all day….

I found a wallet with ₦8.4 million in cash. Returning it was the biggest mistake of my life.
I was on my way home after another failed job interview when I noticed a black leather wallet lying beside a parked car.
At first, I thought it would contain a few thousand naira and some ID cards.
Instead, it was packed with bundles of cash.
I counted it twice because I couldn't believe my eyes.
₦8.4 million.
There was also a driver's license with a phone number.

Everyone remembers the bride who ran away. Nobody knows the real reason I left.
Even now, twelve years later, people still whisper when they see me. They say I got cold feet, embarrassed my family, or ran away with someone else. None of those stories are true. The real reason stayed with me for years because I knew no one would believe it.
I was twenty-six when I was supposed to marry Daniel. He was kind, successful, and loved by everyone around us. My parents adored him, my friends envied me, and our wedding looked like something out of a magazine. The church was filled with smiling faces, beautiful flowers, and soft music. Everything seemed perfect, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong.
As I stood beside Daniel waiting to exchange our vows, I noticed his hands trembling. At first, I thought he was simply nervous, but then he kept looking toward the back of the church as if he was waiting for someone to appear. Seconds later, his phone vibrated inside his jacket. He quickly silenced it, but not before I caught a glimpse of the screen. The message read, “I’m here. Don’t marry her.” My heart began racing. I quietly asked him who had sent it, but he forced a smile and whispered, “It’s nothing.” I knew he was lying….

I got a refund for something I never bought.
It was only $18.47.
I almost ignored the bank notification because the amount was so small.
REFUND PROCESSED – HARBOR BOOKSTORE
The problem was, I'd never heard of Harbour Bookstore.
I checked my account.
There wasn't a matching purchase.
Just the refund.
Out of curiosity, I called the number listed beside the transaction.
A woman answered.
"Harbour Bookstore."
"I think you've refunded the wrong person."
She asked for my name.
The line went quiet.
Then she said, "Can you come in today?"
