“Chess World Cup vagare chan aahe, pan ISRO join kela astas tar aaj chandrawar …” Jokes apart, PG’s mother’s smile simple & guarded. She knows he has done well, very well but like most Indian mothers she will reserve her jubilation, sigh of relief for the immense pressure her son is under, until the final round is done, the official winner announced. What a fantastic achievement by this young man! In her speech I hope she outlines the importance of daily anghol, fresh body, fresh mind as a building block towards a sharp acumen required for ♟️

IB was showing me her medical report while our other house help couldn’t help adding her two bits. In Marathi she thought of saying something nice about me, it ended up coming out as “Tai kiti kalji ghetat apli, khup kadak (strict) aslya taripan kiti vicharpus..” Honesty at the cost of being blunt!

Last night I made a spinach, broccoli, mushroom sauté in a light butter garlic sauce. Some excuses to not eat it were “Sorry! 2/3 greens vegetables in one dish is a conspiracy I can’t get myself to be a part of” “butter no way!” “Mi chincha gul amti bhat khanar aaj!” Waiting to hear the excuse IB will give.

@godbole_shilpa @akkiman Another one was Darpan. Sunday noon show of stories of pathos that would have the seven year old me crying that whole day and in bouts the whole week after as I remembered the sad fate of the protagonists. Eventually, my mother stopped me from watching it! 😅

@akkiman There used to be shows based on short stories by renowned authors. Googled it .. ‘Katha Sagar’ was one of them but there used to be few more shows. Can’t recall names but I remember the impactful stories.

Doordarshan shows in the 80s/90s were something else... Some of them were way ahead of their time.. What's your top 5 shows from the dd days?

And it isn't like the Aussies never err; if anything, the unsuccessful yet incessant sweeping against Indian spinners at BGT by their men proves that they aren't even learning from their mistakes, which is worse. Let's get off the high pedestal. Players are only human.

So many perspectives to this. The slow running could have been due to her being unwell and wanting to preserve energy. The bat getting stuck was plain unlucky. Even assuming it to be a mistake, the bottomline is that nobody will be more gutted than Harmanpreet about this.
ABC SPORT@abcsport

"Harmanpreet can say all she likes that it was so unlucky." 👀 For all young cricketers wanting to learn the value of staying alert on the field, listen to Alyssa Healy. 100% correct.👍

If you are active on Twitter, I am assuming you are one of those hard-ass persons who doesn't get swayed by reel life emotions. But what was the last movie which made you cry in a theater? For me it was Taare Zameen par.

@godbole_shilpa 💯.Years of speaking conventional "bookish" Marathi drilled into us by our parents isn't going away. Can't and won't change it for myself or my daughter. But over time, I have stopped being pseodopurist and frowning at other variants. One evolves. Bhaashe peksha samvad mahatvacha

Language is meant to evolve, it’s a reflection of the dynamic nature of society. To my ears “sobat”doesn’t sound like the right term for together, in other parts of MH is a common term. Same with toh bolalla instead toh mhaṭlā. I will however continue to correct my children.

This needed to be said. Despite being the world's richest cricket board, if we don't make this basic facility available for our girls who come to the stadium to get inspired, what example are we setting? Hoping @BCCI @BCCIWomen look into this!

Hey @BCCI @JayShah - in the past 14 months, having been a cricket spectator in 2 of India's biggest cities, along with my young daughter; here's an dxperience we don't wish to encounter ever again: absolutely disgusting toilets in both venues, at Wankhede as well as at Kotla. 1/n

@venkateshprasad Agree💯! Selectors are actually doing KLR and themselves a big disservice by persisting with him. His failures get more glaring and their policy more intriguing with every match. All cricketers go through a slump. Time away from spotlight can work wonders.

A few people thinking i have something personal against KL Rahul. Infact it is the opposite. I wish well for him and playing him in such form was never going to enhance his confidence. For him to earn his place back in Test cricket, now that the domestic season has ended, cont.
