My boyfriend and I are planning to buy a house together after dating for 3 years. He earns significantly more than I do, so he’d be contributing about 70% of the down payment. Because of that, he wants the house to be only in his name. He says it’s just “fair” based on the numbers, but we’d both be living there, splitting bills, and building a life together. I’ve been watching a lot of relationship content about equity vs equality, and it made me realize things don’t always have to be 50/50 but this feels like I’d have no security at all. He said if we ever broke up, he’d “do the right thing,” but that doesn’t really reassure me. My friends say don’t move in unless my name is on it. His friends apparently think I’m being entitled. Now I feel stuck between trusting him and protecting myself. Is this a red flag I’m trying too hard to rationalize?

Yes! I was peeping your hair and I think we have the same type (thick and crazy). The face framing layers are so nice and they give extra volume without you needing to use product or tease it. And before anyone asks; yes we mostly sleep separately & it is wonderful. We don’t wake one another with any sleep habits or early alarms so we are both better rested, more productive, happier & healthier as a result. We have important solo time, which leads to interesting conversations over breakfast about our books/shows/learnings. Sex/connection is chosen & intentional & oftentimes more of an event, rather than lazy & “just because” before drifting off to sleep. And in the highly unlikely event of an emergency like a fire or break in, we are distributed for greater success. ✨This is FLR✨

C’est une lecture intéressante, surtout ce passage “par en bas” avec le corps et l’affect. Mais je ne suis pas totalement convaincue que ça résolve vraiment le problème kantien — j’ai plutôt l’impression que ça le reformule. Jacobi montre déjà l’instabilité autour de la chose en soi, et l’idéalisme allemand (Fichte, Schelling) tente de le dissoudre autrement. Et même avant ça, le monisme de Spinoza reconfigure déjà le rapport entre esprit, corps et réalité, ce qui complique pas mal la question. Du coup, le geste de Schopenhauer est clairement fort, mais je le vois plutôt comme une intervention parmi d’autres que comme une solution vraiment décisive.

@KatyaxReign Michel Henry lui rend hommage, quoiqu’il lui préfère Maine de Biran. Mais globalement, on réduit bien trop l’apport de Schopenhauer à de vagues considérations sur les douleurs du monde, le pessimisme, comme s’il était un moraliste de salons littéraires.

Ouais. Alors que moi, plus le temps passe, plus je lis de philo, et plus je trouve que Schopenhauer est dans le top 5 des philosophes les plus importants de l’histoire de l’humanité.
