Wonderful to join our Institute of Hospitality members this week in my home county of Kent, where we, alongside Shepherd Neame, Britain’s oldest brewery, had the pleasure of celebrating Great British beer. This event was a fantastic opportunity to join our #HospitalityFamily across a total of 290 pubs, and to discuss both the significant challenges they face, and the exciting possibilities they see ahead. It was truly inspiring to hear how their commitment to training and development is paving the way for professional success, especially at a time when over 400 pubs have tragically closed their doors.  Pubs are so much more than places to enjoy a pint; they’re the beating heart of countless communities. They provide a sense of belonging, and for some a route away from isolation. They are something to be celebrated, as is the incredible skill of the brewers that craft the beer, whilst vitally supporting the local economies that they serve. Well done to the Institute of Hospitality South East Region team, led by Michael Wood FIH, Sarah Powell MIH and Leanne Silavant MIH IS, and to Shepherd Neame Ltd CEO Jonathan Neame for hosting such a valuable event, and an invaluable opportunity for our pub and brewery sector voices to be heard. #imin #MeetingOurMembers #InspireMotivateLearn #StrongerTogether #IoHSouthEast #Pub #BritishBeer #Brewery

20 years of our long standing, and successful partnership, with the University College Birmingham was celebrated this week, with a lunch and networking event organised by the University and our talented IoH Midlands committee, led by Chris Eigelaar FIH. Meeting the next generation of talent in the culinary arts was a useful reminder that despite the significant challenges our profession faces, there are reasons to be positive. The students enthusiasm and commitment to their chosen industry was infectious, and a solid reminder as to why our organisations have collaborated so meaningfully over the past two decades. Opportunities like this don’t just happen, they take a lot of work, so thank you to Chris, the IoH Midlands team, David Paulson UCB Executive Dean, Lewis Walker Head of Department, and of course the incredible hospitality students, for your efforts to develop and grow our special relationship, where we work together to help shape the future of hospitality catering. #imin #UCB #IoHMidlands #Collabration
