@vogliamo_tutto @tropicalcamatte @Dubious_Angel I mean Benjamin was steeped in the German Historicist tradition which Heidegger was trashing; not just Hegel, but also Dilthey, Cassirer, and Windelband played a huge role in his thinking

Btw, the earliest dates I have found for Benjamin’s utter contempt and even hatred for Heidegger was 1916, thirteen years earlier (!). There are letters from him thrashing Heidegger’s articles and all.

In 1929, Walter Benjamin envisioned founding a journal with Bertolt Brecht titled Crisis and Critique, aimed at “annihilating” or “smashing Heidegger” (as the phrase circulated within their circle) and at dismantling his philosophical influence. The project was to be financially backed by Felix Weil, with the cover designed by Paul Klee.

@mganj79 @Gattungswesen25 Kautsky also never described DotP as socialism — his model, inspired by Engels, was the Paris Commune (same as Marx). DOTP means the proletariat having veto power over society, socialism being the only mechanism through which such power is made concrete

I doubt l'll convince AES believers, but I'll explain to those on the fence: socialism =/= DOTP. Socialism is synonymous with lower phase of Communism, but DOTP is transition to that lower phase. DOTP overcomes class relations and value production. AES wasn't even in transition.
