@KariDaniels cars definitely have a higher investment cost that makes it more widely acceptable, but I agree. there's probably a good amount of people out there with encyclopedic knowledge that have consolidated down to just a few pairs just due to logistics

I’m not mad at this. “Sneakerhead” has always been attached to some weird set of rules that require a buy-in by self-appointed gatekeepers. Can you be a “gearhead” without owning a car? Sure you can love cars without owning one. I think the same applies for sneakers.

@KariDaniels I think you can be a sneakerhead just by enjoying the culture. I cant call someone that buys reps a "collector" though. It just defeats the purpose. The dopamine hit from a "got em" screen or finding that grail is unmatched. You cant get that from fake shoes and resell.

fakes are a fundamental disagreement with the ethos of collecting. you don't wanna save the money for high heat, but you also don't wanna find your own taste and personal favorites in affordable options. they just wanna play with cheat codes and try to fit in with everyone else

Advocating for fake sneakers is so lame lmfao. Idk why there’s think pieces about it. The math is simple. If you buy fake shoes you’re a lame loser. Hunt for the shoe you want or find something else and be okay with an L here and there. That’s what grails are built on.

@LiveMonger fakes used to be more obviously fake, outlandish designs, really out there color ways back when new cws were much rarer. used to offer something the real thing didnt alongside obvious quality differences. modern fakes are so 1:1 the only quality they have is being fake & cheaper

Ahhhhh bootleg culture has been one that has been celebrated for decades, and honestly has had a significant resurgence these last few years. Sneakers have always appeared to be off limits to this, but I wonder why? Where do we draw the line?

Not exactly though - Virgil said he appreciated counterfeits as a form of feedback. In his opinion if something was being bootlegged then it had cultural traction. Virgil was more of an advocate of sampling. Also, Virgil & Off White actually sued counterfeit sellers lol.

On the box it says High. It came in the remastered box like a lot of releases that year. FROM MY EXPERIENCE/MEMORY.. the confusion was the cut it was slightly shorter than the other AJ1 Highs.
